IRVINE-- A woman was shot and killed in a student housing building on the University of California Irvine campus, police say.
A 30 year old woman was shot around 7:00 p.m. Sunday night in the 4200 block of Verano Place in Irvine, said Lt. John Hare of the Irvine Police Department.
The woman was taken to an area hospital where she later died of her injuries, said Hare.
The shooting suspect, a 35 year old male UCI graduate student, was believed by police to have been in a romantic relationship with the victim.
Police are still investigating the shooting, but believe it to have been caused by a domestic dispute.
Verano Place, where the shooting occurred, is a graduate and family student housing community near the UC Irvine Campus.
