Lol, yea thats me. What map light do you have?? The best bet is to go to a honda dealership and ask them, they have misc harness plugs in the back and could find one for you. otherwise the whole harness for the jdm one (also the honda element in the US) goes for about $300. Just ask them, its 2 female plugs, if I wasnt working tommorow and didnt live in palm springs Id be down to help. could always solder it and slide some shrink tube over it and that would be the same as a female plug.

Side note: The plugs are also the same ones as the rear hatch light, so you could always junk yard the plugs. They are common plugs so it should be that hard to get.

Thanks, I'm trying to hook up some 8th gen civic maplights. There's 3 prongs on the maplight and I experimented wiring them to the dome lights. I had power for a few days, blew a fuse, replaced the fuse, and then tried a different sequence of combinations. After a few weeks, it just gave out on me. I checked all the fuses, and I don't know what else to do? I have hardly any experience with wiring though so I have myself to blame.

You have to learn some way right? Well if its a three prong then most likely its normally set to a relay. So you'll most likely have 2 grounds and a positive. I would try using an add a fuse and make it its own circuit. Make sure you find a good secure ground. Most of the time thats the simple solution if your getting arcs and blowing the fuse. Definately take it off the dome circuit and see if that straightens everything out. As for it giving out all of a sudden, most likely a bad connection or crimp in the wire, use a ring terminal on the bolt to give it a good ground and help eliminate those "gremlins"

Progress:
So I bought an add a fuse, connected it to the fuse box (rear window wiper is gone so I used that spot). Then grounded 2 wires. Possible combinations of Ground and Power:

GGP, GPG, PGG

2 of the combinations worked, but in both cases only the driver's side light powered on and only when the key is turned at "On" position. Any ideas why the passenger side doesn't work and why the key has to be inserted in order to turn them on?

Ok, Find a fuse thats constantly hot (always on), the add a fuse will expand the one you insert it into so no biggie. As for the combinations, did you try pgp or ppg? Did both sides work before? if so you might have burnt the light so check that.

Found a hot fuse! The drivers side light goes on without they key in now.

I checked the bulbs, theyre both good.
No luck on the x2 p.

The first time around I had 2 powers and 1 ground. For a day or 2 both lights worked BUT when you pressed 1 map light, the other would go on with it (not independent). That's how I ended up blowing a fuse. Then afterwards, the passenger-side gave out--> until both gave out. I let them sit there a few months until passengers kept complaining for a few months that the lights weren't working.
That's the overall summary up to this point

(anybody see SD vs DEN today?!?!?!? RIDICULOUS!)

You could have melted a connection point on the pasanger point. Could happen. Id start there, since you know the bulbs are good.

I googled stuff on melting connection points, but I still have no idea what I should be looking for? Basically a part in the system where it appears to be burnt or melted/disconnected right?

In other words, how would I test if there were a melted connection point or not?

just look for where the solder may have came up, It could be a soldering point that got messed up, or a connector is bent and not connecting, sorry i know this is vague, but with out having the unit I cant really tell. You can test it with a 9V battery. Just find the circuit that is supposed to light the bad side and mess with the connections and inspect til its good. Also, try reversing the bulb and checking for any bent wires where the bulb goes in (also the ones on the bulb itself these can bend easily.
