Twinkle twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are
I want a girl who'll be all mine
Who wants to say I'm her guy
Someone sweet, that's for sure
I want to be the guy she's looking for, oh no
I wish I may, I wish I might
Have the girl I wish tonight

not yet . still trying to work something out with the landlord where i could get a portion of my security deposit back since the townhome is virtually spotless now and they only gave me a week's notice to be out.

whatever i get back will go toward my Ruckus

well, you IMO are entitled to your security deposit in full. Unless ofcourse you punched holes in walls and such. they only gave you 10 days notice, unless it's an eviction.they need to give 30 days written. The only other reason they can make you forfeit your deposit is if you not getting the contents out on time prevented them from re-renting the place. Neither of these are the case. You should speak with an attorney. there are PLENTY who will give legal advice at no charge. If it comes down to having to go to court, they will start the meter so to speak.

sorry, but i looked into purchasing properties for rental purposes.....that's why i am somewhat knowlegeable.

sorry to get all legal and shit here, I just dont like to see people get ripped.

LAST THING! I promise! If you were there a year and under, they are entitled to retain some of the deposit for wear and tear. basically paint and carpet cleaning. I think the mark is 2 years where the deposit is fully refundable because that stuff then becomes normal wear and tear.

The thing that makes this tricky for me to be 100% sure about all of this, is the damn foreclosure and the laws the banks use. Any foreclosure I have seen, people take everything and go, the bank doesn't charge them additional fees. I have 2 friends who have foreclosures and they just left.......and it was done with.

thanks for all your help Dan! i'm going to consult with one of the realtors i work with and mention what you've provided me with. i could really use that deposit money right now so any extra effort i need to take to get the entire amount back would be worth the time investment.

again, thanks so much. i would've really just accepted the fact that i wouldn't get the deposit back but you've convinced me that i am entitled to something. now i'm starting to think that they're (landlord) just trying to make little good out of a bad situation. initially, i wouldn't have thought so because they're the sweetest couple i've ever met but i do feel like i'm being swindled

my wife's aunt seemed like a sweet little lady, until one day she slipped and told us she kept taking rent for 6 months yet never made a mortgage payment and had the house foreclosed on. You never know man. I just don't like to see people throw the towel in. It NEVER hurts to try
