Where do i go to hang out and get pointers?
What to do, and where to do it? been thinking of heading out to N1concepts, just for the hell of it and check out their store...
but other than that, i have no clue who to meet, and where... =|
and how stupid i would probably look when i'm just a computer programmer

Being a computer programmer can't possibly make you look stupid. If you don't know anything about cars, you have a lot of company. There are a lot of members of fitfreak that can help you- all you have to do is ask. As far as where to "hang out" to get info., I can't give you an answer. There doesn't seem to be much going on with our members in the Bay area. I'm in the South Bay (Santa Clara,Santa Cruz counties) and there doesn't seem to be anything going on with Fit owners here either. I will go to the Fit meet in Stockton in June just to meet some other Fit folks, but kind of wish that I didn't have to drive 2 hours for a Fit event.
I am an ex-mechanic, racer, and car and truck customizer with 40 years of experience. If I can help you with an opinion or suggestion, just send me a pm and I will do what I can. BTW, I worked for two different companies located in San Carlos in the early 90's.

Your post's title caught my eye. Not in CA myself, but as a skilled person on getting pointers from pros for many many years.....
If you can, befriend a good shop owner. Find one with your interests, if you like tuning, bodywork, parts sales, stereos, etc.
While I have made many friends this way, there were two cases where I got a job and almost got a job (moved before that one) this way. The occasional gift can get you in the door too, also helps if you paid them for an actual business transaction for starters then "made friends".
Be willing to learn, but not a pain in the ass. Someone will teach you, but not if they have to look at the back of your head while they are working. Respect them, talk to them when they want to, but make yourself scarce when a customer or other business transaction is going on. You don't need to know their hourly rate or what their uniform bill for the month is.
Read as much as you can. No internet back when I did this, I read a LOT of manuals and magazines.
And the computer bit may work to your end the day you come by and their desktop with all their books, customers and orders on it crashed.....

If its general car meets you want to attend, check out the Subaru community at i-Club.com. I had 2 Subarus before the Fit and they're really accepting of other car guys that attend the weekly meets.
