Custom playlists on USB stick?
(Originally posted at DriveAccord.net--moved here and edited a bit)
Just got my new 2015 Fit EX (23 July 2015)…and already I've got a hair-puller. My old iPod Classic gave up the ghost several months ago, the Bluetooth doesn't play well with my Kindle Fire (an Android device), and USB playback is, well, non-intuitive, to say the least.
The owner's manual (the full manual, mind) only has basic info on how the system works. I tried downloading some PDFs from the official Honda owner's site, but they're just copies of the printed info.
Are custom playlists on a USB stick supported? I've got them in a folder called "Playlists" (along with "Audiobooks", "iTunes U", "Music", and "Podcasts"), at the root level, all ending with the '.m3u8' extension.
The stick, a SanDisk 32 GiB USB 3.0, is FAT32 formatted on an MBR partition map (classic Windows 98 format). The music is organized on the drive as \Music\<Artist>\<Album>\<01 Song>,<02 Song>,<03 Song>,etc. The songs themselves are all either MP3 or AAC. Each entry in a playlist is formatted as
\Drive name\Music\Album\Artist\## Song.[mp3,m4a]<CRLF>
So far I haven't been able to find any playlists, and manually trying to find a song or podcast is a real PITA--there's over 3000 files on there!
P.S. When suggesting any utilities, keep in mind I don't do Windows much anymore. I've got OS X (Lion), I've got Linux (Ubuntu Trusty), and I've got And--er, FireOS--but no Windows newer than 2000.

Thank you for the tips - I figured out how to get my 2019 Fit LX to play all 124 GB of music on my SanDisk 128 GB USB flash drive. My USB stick info: SanDisk small format FAT32 formatted drive with 21796 mp3 file structure songs in 673 total folders (main and sub folders) using the iTunes folder structure of music group | album | CD number | song folder structure. I started with 21796 songs and 2400+ total folders - Fit would only play the groups of A-I and would occasionally show a folder number over 700. I spent "quality time" over the Thanksgiving break reorganizing those folders to be music group | song folder structure with a few folders of my favorite groups still in the group | album | CD number | song folder structure. Now all folders and songs (128 to 320 bit rate up to 48000 frequency range) seem to play even though I have more songs than people have claimed will work. Enjoy!
