Some Hope For Android Users
Hello Everybody
i stumbled upon this video tonight and gave me hopes that i can actually use the mirrorlink with my Android phone
Sigyc seems to be working, perhaps it even depends on the phone, but it is great that it is working
Honda Link
here on Mexico we have the Sygic App as our default navigation software (i use it and it's pretty good, probably better than the US Honda App i hear so many bad things)
Lets hope we find more good news

The sad thing is that Honda could have this working now if they wanted to do so. However, there is no motivation for them to do so and even some impetus not to do so as it pushes customers to the $$$ Honda nav system.

Hey everyone! The video in the OP is mine. I have been posting about my attempts here in a subforum (link to the thread where there's a pretty good conversation going) and on the 9thgencivic forum (link to that thread as well).
A few important things to note:
- Most everything out there on the internet and most of the Android phones that are MirrorLink compliant are MirrorLink 1.0. We are fairly unique in that our cars are supposed to support MirrorLink 1.1. It's very different and not cross compatible.
- Sygic has a few different navigation apps. The ONLY one that is MirrorLink 1.1 compliant is the $110 app in Google Play. I played around with it during the two hour return window, and then uninstalled it for a refund.
I'm happy to have any discussions with anyone to get this figured out!

Please let me know what type of cable I need to buy in order to connect my galaxy S5 and see if it works.
Thanks

EDIT - Also, I should mention that getting MirrorLink to kick in appears (to me) to be a matter of luck. I have to be in the diagnostic menu's MirrorLink submenu, and unplug/replug the USB cable a bunch of times and eventually MirrorLink kicks in on the phone.

Simple standard USB cable, nothing special. Just make sure your S5 is updated to Lollipop, otherwise you won't have MirrorLink. I also just posted another update a few minutes ago to the thread I linked above with a few additional thoughts/apps to try.

Thanks for the information. I am still waiting for ATT Lolliop update for galaxy s5 and M7. I have to wait for some more time. ATT just pushed 4.4.4 update. They are very slow.
Regarding purchasing cables, I have seen people connecting iphone with a adapter which will plug into car HDMI and USB ports. Do I need to buy something like that (micro usb to HDMI + USB). What is the use of connecting USB port of the car as well when HDMI can do everything.
Thanks

Point being, further support for syncing mobile is the only direction for this industry honestly. OEM Nav is awful, and everyone knows it, and for $10 you can buy a mount and have a much better experience with Google Maps on your smartphone. This is what everyone does just about, for a reason. Demand will always be realized, with time.

The automotive industry is already coalescing around The QNX® CAR Platform for Infotainment as the primary infotainment OS. One source estimated 50-70% of infotainment systems are currently built on that, with the remainder mostly being a dwindling share for Windows Embedded. QNX can run with either CarPlay, Android Auto, or MirrorLink, and is a safer bet for auto manufacturers wanting to support both iPhone and Android (as well as Nokia/Windows phones with MirrorLink) while continuing to provide a proprietary interface for those not using a smartphone.
