Help me diagnose a no start problem-new member
Hi there Fit freaks. I recently bought my son a 2015 Fit EX and it has started showing a strange problem I’d like your help with. It’s a 2015 with 160K miles. It has a comprehensive extended warranty and CPO for another 2 months but the problem is intermittent so it would be helpful to explain to the service advisors if you guys and gals have experience with it. Right away I started to get the low key battery symbol on the dash. I replaced those. Then I got a no start when I pushed the button a couple times. Then the blue water symbol. I tested the voltage and alternator was putting 14.2-14.4 and battery was at 12 even but the contacts were very corroded so I bought a brand new factory battery thinking maybe it was a short or low voltage situation. In the 2 weeks since the no start situation has quickly gotten worse. Now I can only start the car using my little LiOn jump pack, but it starts easily using that, otherwise I only get a click when I push the start button. I have a new alternator in hand and can get a reconditioned starter for $150. The reason I would pay for my own parts is that the extended warranty has a $500 deductible, and the CPO requires that Honda can replicate the issue, meaning when the car doesn’t start I have to get it towed to the dealer in order for them to diagnose and hope that when it gets there and THEY try to start it it doesn’t start. BTW-the car does have a dealer installed alarm system that I DO have concerns is part of the problem.
I have an extensive tool inventory, 2 post lift and experience in automotive repair (along with a Carrera S and GLC63S, neither of which my son is going to drive to his PT time LOL)
I’ve read that the starter commonly goes bad in these, do these symptoms sound like a bad starter or more like a voltage regulator intermittently not charging the battery sufficiently?

Starter Issue.
Go to your local Honda Dealer and get your start button replaced.
It's a FREE FIX.
It's a recall issue on these 3rd gen Fits.
Mine was having starting issues. Since I got mine replaced mine starts at the first start.
