Mirror, Auto-Dimming W/Homelink - Honda (76400-THR-A01)

I had the auto dimming with homelink mirror retro fitted to my honda fit 2018 sensing/sport trim today and while the power button lights up and the dimming feature works none of the homelink buttons work/light up. and so i can't sync any of my garage door openers.

I took the car back to honda and they said it must be a defective mirror. is there any way it's a wiring issue on the dealer's end? I checked the mirror for compatibility and they match. part is OEM.

Thanks in advance.

nnnn.. some home link mirrors have 3 wires. switched, ground, and constant. the constant is mainly for the memory, i believe. i suppose it could be defective, but not sure.

my GK just runs the gentex dimming + compass mirror which is only 2 wires. switched and ground. was a super easy install. didnt even bother buying an add-a-circuit thingie.. lol

The Honda dealership is convinced the mirror isn't compatible even though every site I check says it is.

College hills even shows a kit specifically for the fit.

give them the pdf instructions? lol installing dese things is not rocket science. there is usually only a few wires depending on the options u have on the mirror. just splice it.

Homelink is just an RF transmitter. The mirror just needs power and you should be able to program it. That's what the 3 extra buttons are for.

The entire purpose of the mirror is to add homelink functionality to vehicles that don't already have it built in to the roof console sub assembly. And since it is powered now, you get the cool auto dimming function. I'm pretty sure no one would pay that amount just for auto dimming (no offense to people that would, lol).

It's just killing me. The Honda dealer who installed the mirror is adamant it's not compatible with my car. I mean, the mirror may be faulty but I'm putting my money on the service center not doing the install correctly.

In their defense... or maybe against their defense... it's literally 3 wires... it's pretty hard to screw up. I would say if the auto dimming function is working then it is a defective part. They're just upset that they lost all profitability on this job since they have to tear everything apart again to replace the mirror. They shouldn't be taking it out on you though.

Is this a dealership or you had an outside service center install it? I'm sure if it was a dealership they would just get money reimbursed by Honda (I would assume). The part is faulty.

Actually, it comes with a harness. So I don't think they can mess it up -- must be defective. There's no way to wire it wrong, unless they decided to cut the plug off and hot wire it into the fuse panel.

Awesome, another one should be on its way. Thanks for the advice.

Looking for options to add homelink to a new 2019 Fit, found this thread. OP never answered what happened, however, the part listed does not have the homelink buttons. It's just autodimming.

So wonder even if the mirror he got included the buttons, the harness may not have the correct wires?

Sounds like there's a connection issue with one of the wires. The OEM part does not include Homelink so if this needs it's own separate power, it's possible the harness doesn't have it.

I would pay to not have auto dim. With a kid in the back, it's key to be able to flip between rear view and the kid.
