my car has the stank
My car has developed the moldy stank coming from the vents. It's not overpowering but yeah, it's there. I usually detect it a few minutes after I get rolling. Sometimes it lingers a bit before dissipating. I don't use the AC that much and when I do I'm pretty good about cutting the condenser a few blocks before my destination so I'm kind of surprised and also disappointed. Surprised because duh Honda. Disappointed because I'm thinking it means I have a moisture problem that I'm going to have to look into. Sigh.

Your moisture drain line under the car must be stuck. I wonder if you lift the car, and if there is a way to inject bleach up the line that would clear the moldy smell. In home AC, I pour a cup of bleach into the bypass drain line because the main drain line is plugged by mold. I have two AC. One for upstairs and one downstairs. I used the American philosophy. If one cup is good two cups is better. The AC guy wanted $175 to flush the lines, but I said over my dead body, not.

yah just keep the ac turned on at all times.
my wife turns it off on occasion and ends up with the funky smell. just keep it on.
if it continues check the drain under the car. there is a tube on the passenger side pointing down

So I went to the dealer today to get the oil changed and we talked about the stank. Maybe he was blowing me off but he says it's a common thing and if anything was blocked up the passenger floor would be wet enough that it would be noticed. So I'm going to try the Lysol in the intake like the youtube video and go from there ... hopefully it's a long-term fix but we'll see.

that is true that the floor would be wet if it was that moldy smelling all the time with the drain plugged up. if the smell is only time to time, just keep the AC turned on at all times as noted on my earlier post.

Wow, I'd be afraid I'd burn out the condenser if I ran it constantly, esp. when it's not needed ...

plus cars with auto climate control run a/c all the time. (i mean it cycles on/off on its own but you know what i mean)
plus, it's better to cycle a/c routinely. ive had a/c problems on cars that i didnt run most of the time.
