What high performance tires are you running?
I am thinking about getting some higher performance tires in 205/50/16 this summer.
Something along the lines of a Firestone Indy 500 which has good reviews.
Is anyone running these or similar on the street?

Not on my Fit.
I've run Dunlop Direzza ZII, Dunlop Direzza ZII* spec, Bridgestone RE-71R's on my WRX and had Continental Extreme Contact DW on my wife VW CC. I've also have autocrossed an S2000 with Hankook Ventus RS3 and a Focus SVT with Bridgestone RE11
Basically, on the street you're not going to push the car to the limits of any of those tires. If for sake of discussion you are, then you're probably endangering someones life?
My advice is look for reviews in the performance category that you're looking in and choose for the best ride quality or lowest NVH. Like I said, you're not going to be pushing the tires to their limit anyway. If you think being bad ass is taking an on ramp at 75 mph than any high performance summer tire will be sufficient.
If you intend to push the tires to the limit in some closed course competition, then look at the Bridgestone RE-71R which has been "the tire" for autocross the last two years. The Direzza ZII* star spec doesn't quite have the grip, but wears better and might make a better street tire? Even then, no one knows what this years HOT autocross tire will be? I believe Hankook released a Ventus RS4, Dunlop has the Direzza ZIII, BF Goodrich tweaked the compound on their Rival S and there's a couple more entries?

I'm running Indy 500s at that size currently, after replacing the factory wheels/tires. I have the added benefit of aftermarket wheels, dampers and springs, but changing tires was almost as dramatic an upgrade.
I think I saw comparison video of two Scion FR-S, one with shocks, springs and stock tires versus one with only summer tires and the latter was putting up better times.
Anyway, I love these tires. Definite fun for a daily driver and a decent price.

Thanks kenchan.
Any thoughts on running a 195/55/16? This tire is slightly taller but it is slightly lighter than an equivalent 205/50/16 and perhaps a better fit on the 6” rim. Heck I would even have a little lower 6th gear ratio for highway runs!
EDIT: Poking around, rubbing MAY be an issue. Nix that thought.

Or go to a 16X7" rim and a 225/45R16 tire?
Online Wheel and Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit
Firestone lists for the tire you're interested in, that it will fit a 6-8" wide rim. The tire has a measured width of 7". So technically it would fit on the stock wheel, just might look a little ballooned? Personally, I'd buy some new rims if it's in your budget?
If you do go with a 225, be careful the gas millage police on here will come after you.
