Any upgrades you regret?

My next upgrade is a rear sway bar. From everything I have read, this seems like a good one to get that is easy to install.

I'm not sure what I will do next.

Are there any mods you've made that you regret doing?

Steve

Not yet, but haven't done much ..... new leather-wrapped billet shifter knob - hated the stock knob, Tanabe Medalion Touring axleback, and a Progress RSB. Am pleased with all 3, honestly. <edit> Oh, yeah, went with 35% tint with 20% windshield top strip as well...will live with the stock sized tires 'til they wear out (previous owner replaced originals with same sized Coopers, can live with 'em) and some day/one day would love to get rid of the dlutch delay valve, or whatever it's called.

Long time ago I installed tanabe lowering springs on my GD. Was not only a terrible ride quality it rusted in one winter season.

Swift springs no issue.

My DIY cargo cover has not done well and been scrapped, other folks had better and more durable designs I'm sure. However, my wife specifically was not fond of having to move it out of the way for the larger costco runs, etc. Tinted windows also help alleviate the need as much too.

Otherwise, I'm happy with all the others. The cargo boxes have held up very well!

I regret all of them since I now have the urge to buy a new car and I'm thinking about all the money I spent on the Fit

I've only lightly modified mine since it's my daily commuter and so far, no regrets. My homebrew cargo cover has held up well after I reinforced it with curtain rods () and takes all of 30 seconds to remove/add when needed.

The only thing I've pulled out is a Rexing V1P dash camera. I had the V1 and really liked it, but the V1P did not work as well. So I returned the V1P and reinstalled the V1. It would have been nice to have the dual camera setup, so I'll keep an eye out for something else.

Next upgrade will be 205/50/16 to replace the stock 185/55/16. I'm at around 31k so nearing replacement.

I wonder if that will impact gas mileage? I've been thinking these stock tires are a little anemic.

I'm assuming it will since the tire should be slightly heavier as well as being a wider foot print so should have a higher rolling resistance. By how much it'll affect MPG, no clue?

Can you (or somebody) describe exactly what this rear sway bar will do?

Provide better handling for the car during turns.

sorta regretted the DRL lights next to the fog lights. They were a blueish tint and not true white. removing the front bumper also made the bumper sag issue worse. On top of all that, the lights were not very bright, and had to do a great deal of repair out of the box due to cheap quality china components.

Getting rid of both cats and not getting a giant resonator and J-pipe to quiet it back down.

As Shadow Smith mentioned, improves handling.....reduces understeer, if I understand correctly, which is a good thing to reduce in a fwd car, imo.
It's not a drastic change, per se....my wife would've never noticed I installed the Progress bar if I hadn't told her, but, yeah, it's a change for the better, imo

Have you tried the sagging bumper fix outlined by jhn in his car's specific thread? If not, you should, especially since you now know how to remove and reinstall the bumper. It's something I'm anxious to do myself once I muster the courage (scared of breaking a tab and being unable to reinstall it).

The only upgrade I kind of regret is my Bisimoto exhaust. Purchased it mostly for the unique design and the potential for power gains, but I'm not sure it delivers anything other than a roar that's admittedly well-tuned, but frankly too loud. It's almost comical how loud this exhaust is considering how not-fast the GK is. I suppose that's what happens when you purchase an exhaust made by company known for tuning Porsche track cars. Anyhow, there's a good chance the stock muffler is going back on this weekend.

Being that i traded in my 15 for a 17, im not even going to bother even though i know how to remove the bumper, and have the correct tools to do so. To me it wasnt worth the risk.

I just want to thank everyone who has posted. I have often "gone too far" with modifications so I thought I'd ask everyone for some real world experience. I plan on ordering the Progress RSB this month. After that, I will start doing some exhaust research. So far, the Tanabe Medallon Touring looks interesting.

I love both of these....both super easy installs. The Tanabe is "just right" for me ....gives it a nice exhaust sound (lacking with the stock muffler).....looks/sounds great without annoying neighbors and the dreaded 6 spd manual 4000rpm drone seems no worse with it on, having done a long road trip before and a long road trip after install. The Progress bar also feels great, although, (like I think I previously mentioned), my wife would've never noticed it had she not seen the box on the porch Not that the car understeered badly stock, this reduces it and kinda seems to tighten up the rear in quick left-right-left-right swerving situations, if that makes sense.....car feels very neutral for fwd, or at least compared to the fwd cars I've driven up 'til now. The Progress bar wasn't horribly expensive, the Tanabe Medalion wasn't cheap, but was worth it to me (wife might disagree on the worth, but she doesn't find it too loud....it's really a pleasant tone that's absent stock). I'd recommend them both if yer gonna keep the car. Cost me a lil over $600 and maybe 2 hours of my time, if that, total, for both.

Unless you are on a track and take the car to its limits, nothing you can measure. The rear axle already incorporates its own sway bar.

In fact, it is possible to make the rear end too stiff, resulting in wheel lift on hard cornering.

AND.....this is exactly where on a GK??? <drumroll>....nowhere unless you install one. There is no anti-sway bar on my '15 other than the one I installed. Would love to see your proof that "The rear axle already incorporates its own sway bar. " Gee, wish I would've known that

Dash cams really appeal to me, but damned if I want a charger cord dangling from the window to the "power port". already occupied by the Garmin GPS sitting in a cup older. Looked at the Rexing website and there is a battery powered dash cam posing a real review mirror. Has anyone here actually used one of the faux mirrors?
