I'm thinking about replacing the radio in my 2015 EX with one that supports CarPlay / Android Auto.

The radios support backup cameras, but what about the grid lines?

On the stock radio, I can switch between wide/normal/topdown backup camera, I have lines that show where the tailgate opens to, the grid lines wiggle back and forth when I turn the steering wheel.

Is all that done in the head unit (and goes away with an aftermarket one) or in some other box and comes in to the new head unit as part of the video feed?

Anybody replaced their radio with good or bad experience?

 

I just put a Pioneer SPH-DH120 in my pickup truck, and CarPlay works great. I hooked it up to the rear-view cam, and it displays the guidelines, which bend as I steer, just like the OEM display did.

You'll lose the fuel economy feature in the OEM Honda HU, though, along with the side-view camera feature.

This interface may help, but i just got a 2017 Fit and I can confirm the firmware is different. The interface may need an update as well to function properly.

 

Oooo - this makes it much more likely I'll upgrade my HU. I like the fuel economy feature, but am thinking I might be able to get a ODB-II device that might replicate the functionality?
