The audio is compressed even at 720P. I hear what you are saying. I believe the sound is normal for the type of transmission you have. I don't have any whine sounds when deccelerating with my 6MT, except in reverse.

Confused... He has the same 6MT as you? I was the one that mentioned hearing a similar sound in my CVT. I probably should have refrained from commenting on this thread. Doh!

Good Luck with the factory rep.

I can't really tell from the audio whether I would consider that sound beyond the normal. I think every manual transmission I've ever had made some level of auditory "change" when decelerating. Which usually I actually liked. But hard to tell if yours is normal or a sign of something abnormal.

IF...Honda decides to replace the transmission, I'd accept that. They should be able to do that easily and I wouldn't think that diminishes the "integrity" of the vehicle.

But lobby for a resolution you are going to be comfortable and happy with. And Good Luck.

I have never heard a Honda manual transmission make this noise, and I have owned many.

What do you think? The ambient sound of the whine is much more evident in the vehicle interior than the recording demonstrates.

My appointment with the Honda Factory Rep is next Monday. I will be discussing your responses in general with that person.

Our '15 6 spd doesn't sound like this, unless I've driven too many manuals over too many decades that it's become "normal" .... but...yeah, I hear what yer talkin' 'bout, and no, ours does not whine like that, just "normal" whine, if that makes sense

That's some spooky Halloween sound you've got there. Maybe you have a secret sleeper turbo stuffed somewhere under the hood.

Are you sure it's the transmission? Maybe it's something else. Who knows. In my case, my 6MT now has 45k miles under its belt with no airplane sounds whilst engine braking.
