2016 Japanese made Fits
How are the 2016 Japanese made Fits, any issues that anyone has come across as I am going to go get one. How do they compare to the 2015 as I have a EX which my wife barely will let me drive, so got to get one for myself. How is the fit and finish as I noticed on the 2015 a few minor things such as they barely put any paint on the firewall and in those sitting in dealerships outside or used ones I have seen it really looking bad down low with even some streaks of rust.

FWIW, I think my Mexican made Fit has a better paint job than the Japanese made Fits I've seen. No primer visible anywhere on mine. No rust either after two winters.
By contrast, my '09 Fit (built in Japan) had primer bleeding through the color coat under the hood, inside the deck lid, inside the doors, in fact, anywhere they didn't think you'd look too closely on the car lot. In fact the best paint on the car was the work the body shop did after the accidents.

though only 7 weeks owned, mine is pretty good. pain job is one of the things I look at and mines was done well. It's a fun car to drive for this 43 yr old male. But it does need some EiBach springs and maybe some S-bars lol

RS-R. Zero complaints, tons of good things to say about mine. Also, progressive for the rear sway. Between the two, it's a completely different car.

For '15, all US market Fits came from Mexico. For '16, all CVT Fits except the EX-L model were sourced from Japan. The (very) few manual transmission Fits appear to still be coming from Mexico. I have no idea what the mix for '17 will be.

Honda's focus is in significantly increasing production of the popular HR-V. A second Honda factory in Mexico will be switched over to HR-V production (so two plants making HR-V). As a result it sounds like the Fit production in Mexico will continue to be very limited and so I'm guessing that a lot of Fits will continue to come from Japan for the foreseeable future, which is good news as far as I'm concerned. The drop in the value of the Japanese yen also makes continuing to export many Fits from Japan an easy decision.

I see. Thanks. I was at the dealer for the airbag recall today, and I saw the base model fit CVT that was Japan.
