yikes again!!!...can you see rust?.. on my car you can JUST see it at the bottom Padrinho is much worse than mine, but mine is still visible and the standard warranty is agains corrosion, so if you can SEE any corrosion i think you have a case to get it fixed. if you cannot see any corrosion, you are at their mercy unless you remove the door panel yourself and see it, but obviously...good luck with that scenario..i will be putting LIBERAL lubricant/rust shield in the locatioon i can SEE from the outside. thanks for update. i was scheduled to go in tomorrow, but i phoned to check they had the parts in stock..they dont (even though they booked me in and knew what it was for(roll eyes) but i an resceduled for next tuesday...I SEE RUST (maybe luckily), so when it comes out, i better NOT see rust..thats my plan!

here is the letter, it SAYS it WILL corrode..lol, and says they WILL replace it. if i was you i would ask the dealer why it says they WILL be replaced but were not? it does not say anything about "inspecting" them either. good luck, keep us posted!!

I dropped my car off this morning at the dealer showing them the pictures I took. Will see what happens. Most likely they will inspect it, say they need to order parts and then come in again to get them replaced.

good news! if you roll down the windows you can SEE the rusty brackets, hard to see on the drivers door, but VERY easy on the REAR drivers door!! with a strong flashlite

my rear is VERY rusty in one spot and light rust everywhere else

I inspected the door handle brackets on my 2016 and the insides are all black painted, and no rust. Yours have a chrome or metal colour. My car is near new, so I will monitor. Thanks. Here's a photo of my door handle bracket.

2016 Honda Fit, Canada, driver's side door handle, open, looking down. The oval on the right side is the keyhole. The door handle bracket is black.

ok, it seems easier to roll down the drivers side PASSENGER DOOR window , look down where the handel is where the glass went down. here is a picture through that opening of my rusty internal door handle bracket,(this is INSIDE the door) that arrow points to a big blob of rust, the rest of the bracket has surface rust all over it. so it IS POSSIBLE TO CHECK if you have a rusty handle, some have advised on the 2016 this item MAY be painted black(on driver door), it certainly is not painted on mine. The drivers DOOR bracket is MUCH smaller and harder to see than the drivers side PASSENGER bracket .Off to the dealers on tuedsay!!

BACK from the dealers.....about 4 hrs, they never commented on anything, BUT I checked the drivers rear door bracket by rolling down the rear window and the NEW bracket is painted black,(not COVERED in light surface rust like the origuinal, also the small piece on the drivers DOOR is BLACK when you pull the handle out and look, I DO NOT see the shiny(rusty!) piece i saw before, so this is good news. IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHECK , WITHOUT TAKING ANYTHING APART, IF YOU HAVE THE old or new brackets It seems. Thanks to Torontoboy (with a 2016) for the confirmation on the color.

NOTE: the recall, and the dealer service writup both say REPLACE bracket, it says nothing about NOT replacing the bracket!!

You are welcome. And I thank Vancouver and Western Canada for taking the weather hit during December. Today was 14C and so odd for late December. Just some light rain, which we can handle. Go El Nino!

I looked at mine today, and they're clearly rusted, and bare metal. Unfortunately I don't live in Canada, so I have no recall and I'm apparently on my own to try to convince Honda to warranty this, even though in my mind, this is CLEARLY a "defect in material and workmanship", and, thus, should be covered.

I'm getting sick and tired of dealing with the poor build quality issues of this car. The dealer is getting sick of my complaining about issues they can't/won't fix.

My white '15 EX has white door handles, are these in the photo painted or plasti-dipped black?

No, they are OEM. I have the 2016 base model, Canada, which comes with black door handles and black side mirrors.

I had my Fit into the dealer yesterday to have the two recalls done (the door handle brackets and the rear grab bars). Took about five hours, no problems. It was the first service - the oil indicator is still at 50%, so no other service yet since buying the car in the summer.

The guy explained that the bracket is actually inside the door itself - he said it isn't the piece you can see when you pull on the exterior door handle, but rather a metal bracket that attaches everything inside the door.

Anyway, it's done.

small point, but i think it IS a piece you can see when you pull on the door handle, abeit you can see about 4% of the bracket and the other 96% you cannot see.(from the outside), I base this on i could see rust when i pulled the handle, but after the dealer replaced them i do NOT see rust there anymore.... the rear door brackets are MUCH easier to see by rolling down the window and angling a flashlite down the place where the window goes down, i saw rusty metal, but now they are replaced i see black paint

So I did as you said over and I can definitely see some rust in there. There is a silver piece and the drivers side rear bracket is very rusted, while the passenger side rear has a bit of rust on it.

It's just a matter of time before this "recall" comes to the US and I'll have yet another visit to dealer. Other than the gas mileage, this car has been a let down. First Honda, and I'm not impressed...

Had mine checked at the dealer, and after they did, the door handle started to fall of!. Back again, plus further fixes to the coil pack recall.
