Driving in 'S' hurt MPG's ??
My wife does NOT like it when I drive in Sport mode so I seldom do when she is with me in our Fit. So I haven't been able to do a good comparison to see how much if any effect driving in Sport mode has on my CVT's MPG.It does raise RPM's so it seems logical it would have some effect but so many things will effect your mileage, even wind! So what is the consensus with using it ? I'm thinking maybe a 2 to 3 mile per gallon penalty since when I use it I drive a little more aggressive just to feel more like I'm driving the MX5 Miata I traded in to buy it....

Like you said, the higher RPM will hurt the gas mileage. That's why I think the manual version gets lower MPG than the CVT. At 65 MPH the CVT is around 2100 RPM, I've heard the MT is at 3500.
I like how my HKS exhaust sounds in S mode. I have to wring it around a while to make me kind of forget that I'm in a Fit - lol

Then again I also drive using the paddles exclusively so maybe that helps with the gas mileage, I'm not sure.

All these drivers are driving around a circular track.
Person A: Drives around and never goes over 2k rpm.
Person B: Drives around and always drive at 4k rpm.
Person C: Drives around at wide open throttle and stays at 6500rpm
So....who uses the most gas? Least amount of gas? Doesn't matter if they all drive in Eco mode, S mode, D mode, L Mode, All paddle shifted, etc. If they all are doing the same thing with the ONLY difference being the rpm, do they all use the same amount of gas?
The faster your engine turns, the more air is drawn in. The more air that is drawn in, the more fuel has to be added to maintain a specific air/fuel ratio. More fuel = more gas. All other things being equal, the only way you will not use more gas at all rpms is if you don't add any more fuel at all rpms, despite more air going into the engine.
Maybe the Fit is just one bad as* car.

All my wife has to do is ask me...I don't like to make her feel uncomfortable so why not? It's a little more noisy but you do stay up in the power band if you are really trying to scoot. I like the engine braking effect the most but if I had a good soundings exhaust that would be reason enough! The Fit doesn't drive and handle like my MX5 but at least I can get in and out of it. It gets better MPG too. Plus it will haul our back line if either of us has a gig. In the morning I'll be taking KJ down to Fort Meyers to do a gig with Cody Ray Slaughter a Elvis tribute artist and ye ol Fit will get us there in style and cumfort at 40 plus MPG's..

Start looking at exhausts if you want a sportier experience. I have no regrets getting my HKS. It's not too loud when just cruising. My wife doesn't mind it and likes the slightly louder note. The stock exhaust is about 80 decibels and the HKS and Tanabe are about 93. No droning when cruising and then it comes alive at 3k rpm.
