Hard Decision. Help!!!
Hey all,
went to Honda today to test drive a fit. I really loved it!
Im set on an EX-L. But the dealer told me there are none in my area
and they are no longer shipping 2015s. So the manager offered to get me
a 2016 EX and add leather and heat at the dealer. He gave me a price with
destination of $20,200 with the added leather/heat.
Im going to another Honda lot tomorrow to confirm they are no longer
receiving 2015s in my area and to see if they offer me the same (adding leather to EX).
So my questions are, Is 20,200 (before tax) a good quote with the added leather/heat?
And i'm wondering when there going to start shipping EX-L.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Unless you want a manual I would wait for the 2016 ex-l, but since you want the ex-l I assume you want a CVT auto.
Reason, resale you will always have an ex. But you are paying ex-l money
You won't have the mirror blinker lights.
Your target market when you sell the car will be split between people looking for auto/manual, and looking for higher trim.
Besides if you get a 2016 you'll skip out on associating with the rest of the 2015s and their horrendous quality issues. You'll be able to claim you don't have a first year of a new generation and when you sell it, 2016 sounds better than 2015. Especially since I suspect our 2015s will take a pretty bad hit on resale if the buyer does any research on the topic. I know I would be warded off that its a first year car, with noted and well documented quality issues. It would be a crapshoot at that point, since I would be unsure if the 2015 I was looking at was a "problem" car or one of the people who say they have a perfect one. There were far too many unacceptably crappy ones in 2015.
Edit. Sorry reading comprehension issues. You were offered a 2016 ex. Same advice applies minus the 2015 part (which I will leave in case someone is considering a 2015 for the same money)

It's the end of August, so all the '15s are leftovers.
There are no changes for the '16, so the only difference is a digit on the VIN.
Some of us are waiting until October to see if Honda comes through with Japanese exports to make up for the Celaya shortfall. Might be the last "J" fits we will ever see.

That is roughly $1700 for heated leather seats, sounds pretty steep to me. There is more to the EX-L package. Keep looking, for most a car is a long term purchase and settling now sets you up for a long time of wanting what you didn't get. If heated leather seats are the only reason you want the EX-L, shop your local upholstery shops to find out what it would cost to have them added yourself. Then you can negotiate a better price or opt to handle it yourself.

Not to mention the issues with warranty, or lack thereof, and quality and intrusiveness of the change and potential side effects of this much rework in the field. It would be one thing if there were a Honda Accessory kit for leather seats, front heated. But there isn't. Seems like a really bad idea. I'd put in an order and wait.

You should be able to get a EX for under MSRP..Maybe way under if you shop hard. Take a look here at threads on folks adding heated leather if that is the big reason for getting the EX L.Do you want Nav? I know for sure l would try to save as much as I could and then upgrade to make it what I wanted it to be. I live in Florida so the leather was out after reading a review saying how hot the seats got. Really take a hard look at the "What did you pay" thread. ..
