Heck, I'm not tall or fat, and the console is useless as an arm rest to me, too.

I'm craving a better arm rest, too. Being a crafty DIY-type person, I'm thinking of getting a piece of 4" foam (or 2 layers of something like this) and making a little pillow the same shape as the console. I'll put a little non-skid something on the bottom and a couple of velcro straps. Knowing how many projects already going on, I probably won't get to it for a while, but I'll be sure to post when I do.

I'm 5'8'' and I find the center console useless, it's a shame as that's one of the first things I noticed when I got into the Fit.

Fortunately, I didn't like the folding armrest on my previous ('09) Fit, so I never bothered with it, and now I'm completely out of the habit of leaning on an armrest when I drive.

I never had an arm rest in my previous cars (97 Geo Prizm, 91 Ford Festiva) so I don't even think about it. It reminds of "you can't miss what you've never had." I do like that the console provides storage space.

I 100% agree that the Fit's center console cover is completely USELESS as for the arm rest. What was Honda thinking when they designed it? And no one reported it as "useless arm rest" during their evaluation and testing?

Not only that, take a good look at the front edge/corner area of your Fit's arm rest (center console cover). The fabric is very thin and it already shows a premature wear on mine.

There are quite a few posts on armrests, I'll just link you to what I did and I'm very happy with the result:
