Mileage and rpm
I always pay attention to the tachometer. I am driving a 15 EX auto.
Because 90% of all my driving (41,100 miles) is interstate and turnpikes, the engine always revs around 2200 rpm Usually I keep my speeds 2-3 mph over the posted limit and almost always use the cruise control.
As posted previously, my overall mpg is about 40 mpg.
Nothing seems to affect my mileage except for temps below 25F and winds in excess of 20 mph.

driving style is the major contributor to MPG.
case in point, i get 32mpg in my fit, that is mostly highway driven. my tacoma, which is rated at 22mpg on the highway, nets me around 16mpg if driven only on the highway. i drive sprited, some say aggressive... your mileage, lol, may vary.

My 25 mile commute yesterday was with a 10mph tailwind in 30 degree weather. ScanGauge registered 48mpg. Today it was 8 degrees with a 20mph headwind, got 41mpg. Driving style was identical. Wind and temp made nearly a 20% difference. Temps and wind can be killers, although I agree with Rodney, driving style is a major factor.

HaHa, so I take it you haven't found the 5th and 6th gears yet.
