The cars about 9 years old so I would guess that the extended warranty was getting close to it's expiry date.

@woof @2Rismo2 I had a HondaCare extended warranty on the FIT since 2016 that expired after 8 years in April 2023. I was bare for a while worried that if something big happens to the FIT it could cost too much to fix.

I remembered that in 2004 my credit union loan department at the time (credit union is like a bank for those not familiar) sold extended warranties that I purchased then on a used Mercedes I bought on Ebay. So I called the loan department in Dec 2023 at the credit union and spoke to the banker. He said he would sell me a used car extended warranty for a maximum of 3 years and 36K miles from 88K for $1000 cash and $100 deductible per claim. So I would be covered until 124K miles and Dec of 2026.

Decided to go with that since I am not driving the FIT a lot now, so it would last 3 years.

A month into the warranty the Starter blew, and now the Transmission 9 months into the warranty.

I guess call your bank or credit union car loan department and see if they can sell you an extended warranty, if interested.

I will tell you though--if you cannot prove maintenance with documentation--claims can be denied. With my FIT all the documentation on maintenance (except tires) is with Honda and is also reflected on the Carfax History report. The extended warranty company also reports to Carfax and has denoted both the warranty and the repairs they paid for on my FIT's Carfax.

@howarejew If you look at the billing detail, that washer actually costs $8.00. They paid $5.81 which is an approximately 30% discount.
If you went to a Honda Dealer and they offered to sell you a new car for 30% off sticker--you would buy it!
