Wind Noise

I recently purchased the '15 Fit CVT.

I was curious if anyone else in experiencing exceptionally loud wind noise coming from the driver side or passenger side window (nearest the top of the Bpillar)
I know there is always the usual amount of noise, but this has the sound of the partially opened window.

On another note,

Im looking for a decent brand roof rack for some kayaks...any suggestions?

Hi. Yes, the wind noise on my '15 is terrible, too. As it worked out, right after I bought the car, we drove it across Tennessee and back for Thanksgiving. Not good, as you hear everything on that long of a trip. I repeatedly opened and closed both front windows because the wind noise was so bad, I was just convinced (hoping!!) that they were open slightly.

Unfortunately the wind noise is just one of a long list of annoyances I have with this car. I need to attach a rack, too, but am hoping to use my hitch-mounted bike rack if the car will accommodate it without tipping over - LOL.

I only get wind noise from the lower right passenger side. Not too bad but noticeable

I just drove up into the mountains and back and I can't recall any bad wind noise. But then I was playing some nice music the whole time.

No noticeably significant wind noise in mine either. Check your door seals as those can easily come loose or be incorrectly applied. Door alignment could also be slightly off. Ask your dealer to take a look.

With the DIY cargo cover installed, CVT in "D"rive and at 70 mph+ I'm noticing wind noise around the front pillars as well. In fact, that is about all I hear unless I hit a bump in the road.

Engine is pretty quiet in the CVT unless I drop it into "S" and then I hear the engine and the wind noise becomes less apparent.

I'll have to check the door seals and make sure they look properly installed. Is it objectionably loud? Not sure, I need to spend more time at speed to decide if this is ok or not. Overall, in general, with the CVT the cabin seems fairly quiet unless I'm accelerating or going 70+ with the wind noise.

sure the window is completely rolled up ? If I drop my window by 1/8" I get wind roar but not otherwise/

It would be neat to get several people to do a decibel reading. I think the car is loud, but I expect that from an inexpensive car. I've spent time in a 2001 Toyota Echo, and that was louder than the Fit. The 2007? 2008? Honda Civic coupe was quieter. I don't mind the noise, but I was expecting it.

In strong crosswinds, I get a good bit of A-pillar noise. I believe this to be caused by the strakes along the A-pillar - in a low-crosswind situation, they're not too bad.

If there's noise coming from elsewhere, it's getting drowned out by the A-pillars (at least on my car).

Not on mine. It's quieter than I expected. The CVT can make the engine noisy occasionally though.

The window is definitely rolled up. Adjusted it several times but it makes no difference. Im now thinking it may just have something to do with the window seal itself. Otherwise, the car sounds fine.
But that noise will drive me crazy if I dont figure it out soon.

I have the same problem. I just posted a new thread. I'll paste it here for you:

2015 Honda Fit - At highway speeds I get a loud Wind Noise coming from the top of the font windshield on the passenger side. Even more annoying is that the dealer says there is no abnormal sound. To which I say, if it is normal then why is it only from one side?

I'm aware that a Honda Fit is not a luxury car, and I expect general wind noise. But not from a specific place and not at this level. Not when it sounds like a window is cracked open. This is unacceptable for a 2015 Brand New car.

Also, the windshield itself Rattles! So does the Driver's side window when partially down. And when all the way down, it makes a Crackling Sound. As if it is under pressure. Maybe the other windows do as well and I just don't hear it.

Finally, the Engine's noise is very loud. Even in idle!

I've only had the car for a couple of months, l hope I am not going to be faced with more problems down the road.

A dash mat helps. Not only for wind noise but engine noise, and glare reduction as well. The hard dashboard surface and the steep slope of the windshield combine to make a giant speaker cone and reflect sound reverberating in that air space right back at you. Standard sound recording procedure is to never have hard surfaces oppose, and it's the same deadening unwanted noise in a car.
That said, I think the Fit is rather quiet, given it's size, weight, and price point. Still, at speeds above 70mph the increase in wind noise from the A pillar is excessive and I think I know why. Perhaps they designed it in a wind tunnel but if you channel that develops and then narrows on the A pillar as it rises, that groove at speed will that air passing over and that HAS to make noise. I'm thinking of putting some foam material in there to eliminate that groove and see what happens.
