2015 vs. 2016?
Hello all. I am new to the Fit forum. I have decided to get a EX in yellow but I have to wait until Jan. or Feb. to save enough down payment to get the monthly payments where I want them. Should I just wait for the 2016 model or go ahead and get a 2015? I can't find out much on the web about the 2016 model and any changes it might have. Any input would be appreciated!

I would wait for 2016. I heard there are already 5 recalls for 2015 Fit sold in Japan.

Yes, I would say the 2016s won't come until September 2015. The May release for the 2015 Fit was an unusually early release, because there was no 2014 Fit in the US. Most new Hondas on their regular release timetables come out around September.

Ahh, okay--good to know. I'll have to factor that into my buying process if I buy in the first half of 2015. 'Course, I just replaced the timing belt on my current car, so there's no rush.

Car makers never want to tell you about the changes for next year's model because then customers might give this year's model a pass. The sales people know that the car that's on the dealer's lots is the one that you gotta sell, and that's the 2015. That being said the 2016 should be virtually identical to the 2015, with maybe a few very minor changes to fix problems. Honda pretty much hit the ball out of the park with the 2015 Fit, style wise, power train, fuel economy, and so on. Most quibbles are minor - eg more LED lighting, inside and out, would have been nice.

I would get your car, when you need it. If you can wait until 2016, then wait. You might consider waiting at least until the new 2016 HRV comes out. It is based on the Fit platform, but sits 3-4 inches higher off the ground (I call it a Fit on steroids). It will be released spring of 2016 and will also be built at the same factory in Mexico that the Fit is built.

I always choose the car with worse fuel economy, ride, interior space and handling (although the 2015 Fit is already quite lacking in that department). The HR-V seems to have all those negatives in spades. Oh, and its more expensive with zero off-road capability! Hell Yeah! SUV's!

Ba-dum-tiss!
But seriously. I very much doubt there will be ANY visible changes for 2016. The car is a brand new platform and they are flying off of the lot, so why would they make changes? You make mid-platform updates when sales of a new model have stagnated.

Knowing automakers, they will save everything for the mid-cycle refresh. Only exception is when a model isn't selling well. Any changes we get will probably be available in the Japanese market fit long before we see it.

Yes, I would do this as well.

However feel free to compare:
Lancer v Outlander
Corolla v Rav4
Civic v CRV
Focus v Escape
3-series v x3
Car-based SUV's serve no purpose.
