Is coasting downhill with the engine OFF harmful to the drivetrain?

Virtually every EFI system turns off the injectors when the manifold pressure is low, the throttle closed, and the RPMs significantly above idle. If they didn't do this emissions would go up as the mixture wouldn't burn effectively.

YOU ARE CORRECT.

I took our 2011 Fit down to the gas station tonight. From 40 mph I left off of the gas and it did not return to an idle rpm. I coasted for two blocks slightly down hill and it did not return, so it is indeed slightly engine braking.

I was wrong on my previous statements as they pertain to the Honda Fit.

My EXL CVT's steering wheel doesn't lock. I think I remember reading in the manual the push button models don't have a wheel lock.

The wheel shouldn't lock with the key in ACC position...

BUT

Still an unnecessary thing to do, and I think bad for the CVT, since no pumps are running. I also think you only have emergency brakes, one or two powered pumps before you lose vacuum. Like has been said, the injectors shut off when coasting with no throttle anyway.

Also generally illegal.
