Patiently waiting on my Modern Steel EX-L

Who knew this car could be so hard to find in a color I wanted! I was set on an EX but my wife talked me into EX-L so began the mission to find one.

I have only owned 1 car, the rest trucks and SUV's so this will be a new world for me HA! I still own my 1 car which is a Mustang and my FJ Cruiser is sitting at the Honda lot for trade when my Fit gets here today or tomorrow.

Looking forward to a new hobby and some education on sub compacts. My wife has a 2012 CRV EX-L that has been more than incredible to us so hoping for the same results from this Fit.

This is what I am getting rid of for the Fit. Swapping pure a pure awesome beach machine that gets 15mpg for the Fit was a struggle for me but drove the car twice and fell it love...the increased fuel economy helped a little too

This is what sits in the garage. It's name is Slither. The complete opposite of a snake I would think is a worm so...I am naming the Fit "W3RM"

Welcome to Fit FREAK

Pace, beach, tall pine trees... is that Escambia Bay behind the FJ?

NICE EYE! Yep...that is Escambia Bay back there. I live in Pace and work in Gulf Breeze Tiger Point area so fuel was killing me in the FJ and filling it up with premium doesn't help.

I understand... I've been driving a 15 mpg diesel pickup for years and the Fit is a breath of fresh air!

That's a beautiful area--I was down there in the fifties when you could go to the beach and see nothing but miles of sand.

Something like this? My old Jeep at the beach.

Memories! Thanks for this! It ALL used to look like that, from Gulf Shores east.

At first glance, I'd guess it's the National Seashore on Perdido Key heading toward Fort McCrae (with Grand Lagoon on the left, Gulf on the right), but I don't see the lighthouse, so maybe it's coming back Ft Pickens Rd (assuming that's the PB bridge in the background).

Ft. Pickens Rd. We spent the afternoon out there and were headed back home.

So happy to see it again. I'd heard the whole road was washed away by Ivan.

Ivan washed it out in 2004 and remained closed for about a year. The road was rebuilt and opened back up in 2005. Tropical Storm Arlene and hurricanes Cindy and Dennis in 2005 finished it off again. Opened back up in 2009. Then in 2010 we got the big oil spill!!!

How sad! I guess I haven't kept up with what's been going on down there. I couldn't survive the heat and humidity, and would miss the snow here (but not the vehicle-eating salt on the roads).

I think you're gonna love the Fit. It drives like a Go Kart.

Funny, as one of the vehicles I (briefly) looked at when deciding on the replacement for my '13 Beetle convertible (TDi) was an FJ (the full-up 4WD version). The low MPGs and specialty nature ruled it out pretty quickly, not to mention I already have a 4WD diesel pickup...

Loving my Fit!

Good luck! I too was looking for the EX-L in that color. I was in contact with every dealer in my city and around it. I ended up reaching out to cities within 4 hours. I got a call one Saturday that they had it after a month of waiting for an ordered one I had made. I drove 3 hours that same day and got it. It was soooo hard to find though!

OP, my household, had a FJ Cruiser just like you. Mine was an '07 (6-speed) delivered in Aug. '06. Was one of the first on the island to get delivery. Loved its looks and utility. After 7 yrs. it was time to move forward. The wife kept complaining that she had to bring two sets of shoes everytime she drove it. The gas mileage was pitifull.

Aside from a tire recall, it never went to the dealership for any service or problem.

Am hoping the GK will serve me as well as both the FJ and my previous GD. Only time will tell. I can remember just a couple of quarters ago, some posters giving the new Fit "prophecies of doom" cause it's made in Mexico. Sure, there are some minor issues, but so far, it remains good in my case.

Your patience will pay off by waiting for the exact Fit your after. Hang tough and you'll reap the rewards. Post pics when delivery is made!!!

I got my Modern Steel EX-L on the same day when I was looking around for a new car. This car was already on the lot and been sitting for awhile. They at first showed me the white color which I took it out on a test drive. Then they had two black ones on the lot but not in EX-L.

Then asked the dealer to look around for berry color and only two available in Southern California. So finally the sales rep pulled this car out from the back lot and drove it up front for me to see. At first I thought it was too dark but then I gave it a second look which started to grow on me. This particular car also have a Navi which I like.

I prefer light colors due to heat concerns from the sun but I actually love how the sun shines on it now.

It looks really sharp and happy with the color. A week later got it tinted with 50 front and 20 back (heck with California law) and made it look sick.

I will be posting pics soon as I figured out the way to do it on here.

Good luck on the search and hope you get it soon!

I'm lovin' my new Fit and think the 'modern steel' is the best color. But I'm obviously a little biased...
I can't post attachments or I'd send a pic! The window and moonroof visors really set the car off!

Dealer sent this photo to me last night after it was delivered to them. They found one almost 200 miles away. Sent a truck and trailer and went and picked it up for me. They are running it through their inspection on their lot and cleaning it up for me. Has 7 miles on it and will be heading over this afternoon to pick it up after I take a good look over it.
