Bumper Recall

How many of you have had the bumper recall done? I'm wondering if the parts are readily available and if any of you saw any chips or scratches as a result. How long did it take?

I'd like to remove the bumper to cover it with 3M plastic and also install a pair of FIAMM horns.

There were two threads on this, but I was unable to find them to link for you.

Mine took a couple of hours and there were no problems. Similar reports from several other posters. One poster, however, raised concerns that the original bumper was color coded while the replacement is not.

Maybe the threads are in the sub-forums, but I seem to be unable to get to those.

Here is a thread regarding the bumper beam being "primed", but not "painted" issue.

Here is the thread about the fellow who's car was damaged prior to the notification about the bumper beam replacement.

Here is a thread where people are discussing getting the notification from Honda.

And last but not least, here is a thread with a great picture of exl500's Milano Red 2015 Honda Fit.

I received my notice a few weeks ago. I called the dealer, they confirmed that they would have the bumper beam the next day. I ended up going in a week later due to scheduling conflicts. I just dropped the car off, as I have easy public transit access, but the car was ready roughly two hours after I left. I didn't notice any gaps, scratches, etc.. Of course, whether you will have a careful mechanic is a wild card. Overall, painless.

Mine was in for well under two hours. I waited at the dealership for it. I showed up without a formal appointment, though I had called a few days earlier to see that they had the part and to see if I needed an appointment. The guy told me just to show up in the morning on the weekend and he'd get me through quickly. I'd say it was probably about 1 1/2 hours, and the waiting room had quite a few people in it. It would probably be even quicker if you had a specific appointment and they start right on it.

I have an appointment. My son got his car there, so they had a record of it. I had to supply the VIN for my car, which I got in NH. He had to make sure it was included in the recall. They ordered the parts for the two cars when I called.

they replaced mine while they had it for a week.
The corner of my front bumper was missing paint afterwards, but luckily I have white touch up paint from all the other areas that are also missing paint.

Thanks, Vanguard! And that picture was immediately after the bumper was replaced.

Bumper recall handled in 3 hours, couldn't tell the front end had been serviced. My Honda dealer's service department rocks.
