What brand and grade of gas are you using? 87 or higher?

I used to live in Binghamton and spent a lot of time in the Catskills for many years. It's a first class place to be--just cold in winter.
But this is incredible--the MPG's you are getting. Maybe something is wrong with my car? or it's my tires? I put on Michelin Pilots which are a great tire but they are heavy and I know I am losing about 2 MPG in city, but not 10 MPG.
What tires are you running in summer? Are you still running the OEM Firestones FR 740's on your FIT?

I have never driven with ECO.
Why would everyone not ride in ECO? What do you give up in this mode? Is it bad for the car?

I agree with this. Eco off permanently. I'll even turn off VSA if I'm feeling like I don't want any electronic limitations.

When I had 427 and 429 cu in engines, I liked the acceleration. Now I like high MPG.

I drove into town today, 17 miles at 45°, and I got 46 MPG. Ordinarily, I'd get 50 or better. Low temperatures really hurt mileage. When it gets into the 20s, it will be hard to maintain a good average, unless I take a long trip. Once it's warmed up, it's fine.

Also I drive 7000 miles a year...this year 2000 because no road trip.

The last time gas was $2.00 in California was January 2009--so over 10 years ago.

Incredible!
No one here in California believes me when I tell them that people in the East are paying at or less than $2.00 for fuel right now.
They all say the same things, either: "It's watered down," or "They work for the oil company and get a discount."

Probably part of the reason that methanol injection is so popular in CA.
93 Octane premium is running $2.52/gallon here right now. Thank goodness it's not too bad. Filling the 36 gallon tank in my truck with premium is painful enough!

Not trying to rub it in, but our gas is also a WHOLE lot better. Your fuel mileage is probably partially a result of crappy CA gas. Tuners I know have to turn stuff way, way down for CA customers. The 91 is likely closer to 90 while our 93, if bought at Shell/Exxon/Mobil/etc, is every bit of 93 octane.

@Jazu Thanks for posting all this great stuff on fuel prices.
Two posters here, one from NY and the other from GA say they are paying at/close to $2.00 for fuel right now.
NY tax per your chart is 10 cents less than CA and GA tax is 25 cents less than CA.
But fuel in CA is at least $1.00+ more than both those states.
75+ cents per gallon is unaccounted for the cost of what? Special Blend of gas more $$? Extra refining costs more $$? Corruption--middleman stealing the money?
I can see CA gas costing more = the additional tax, but CA gas prices are WAY up and Off the tax addition.
Look at PA--they have a higher gas tax than CA but pay less at the pump?
