Door Panel Removal

Has anyone had the chance to remove their door panel. I was wanting to replace the door speakers here in a couple of days. What all does it entail?

I just upgraded my factory speakers to infinity kappa and also fatmat all four doors and my trunk. I bought 50 sq ft of fatmat and have about 15 sq ft left over Ima saving it for the rear hatch. The door panel is very easy to remove with a panel tool without it your fingers will be in pain because of the tab is so tight. First you will need a small flat head screw driver to pry the window switch panel out. There is only two Philip screw one is inside the window switch panel and the other is where the door lock and unlock is. Now the hard part is the tabs lucky for me I didn't break any tabs. You can watch the youtube video on the older gen fit they look to be the same steps. Good luck

I have some panel removal tools from panel removals on previous vehicles. What do you mean by prying out the window switch panel?

Sorry I wish I knew how to post pictures. If you look at the edge of the window switch you will see a very small slit enough to put a flat head screw driver in to pry upwards. The switch is being held by just tabs. It should look similar to this picture.

I hope I'm understanding this right. I went ahead and took a picture and colored it in paint. Are you saying that I should pry up at the red line in the picture to remove the section outlined in the green? Feel free to click the picture for a larger view.

Hi no that is not where you pry it from. If you look at your picture again the place where you pry up is from the far left triangle part. You outline the whole piece that suppose to come out in in green. If you look at the triangle part from the side you can see the slit. The picture you showed is the top angle. I'll take a picture and post it for you.

Wow! I was way off! Thank you so much for posting the detailed pictures. I really didn't want to start prying on the wrong spot. I look forward to the install on Wednesday.

What kind of speakers are you planning to install? You may need a spacer so the magnet of the speaker will not be in the way of the window going down.

Where are the clips on the rest of the door skin? I'd like to know so when I take mine off to route the wiring for the heated side mirrors for my EX 6MT Fit be good to have a road map where to pry and not break anything.

I would suggest you look into buying a Trim and Molding Tool set, using screwdrivers to ply panels can create indentations in the plastic as the car gets older

I got the panel off, and I unscrewed the speaker. Where is the actual edge of the speaker? The inner edge of the foam? Did you just pry the foam off?

If you unscrew the speaker screw out you can pry around the screw base. Here is a video skip to the three min mark.
