I dunno about auto but on a manual, I have much more faith in the transmission holding my car than the hand brake. On very steep hills you really have to crank the sucker to hold the car. Then again, I could tighten the cable...

I always park my car in gear on a hill (MT). I use the brake also but would feel comfortable only using the tranny.

I never use the hand brake on auto tranny because it's always someone else's car and I know that if I put it on, there a good chance the owner will end up driving around for a few minutes with the hand brake on before realizing! I'm glad my ole GD3 beeps when you try and drive with the handbrake on. I've occasionally forgotten it when waiting at a very long red light.

Can someone who's pulled the fuse comment, please? thanks

The fuse #25 is in the uncovered fuse box. If you look under the car steering wheel column there is a map of the uncovered fuse box and shows the location of the day time running lights which is 7.5 amp. I'll take a picture of the location and the fuse that was pulled when I get home unless someone beat me to it.

This is a crappy picture because I'm too lazy to go take a pic. It's in the #25 fuse right below the steering wheel in the uncovered fuse box. The covered fuse box under the steering wheel holds separate fuses; the fuse map on that covered fuse box is for those fuses inside it only, not for the uncovered one. If you look at the manual, you can see the fuse map and it's #25. The first fuse is a 20A iirc. You then count down with 7 fuses per column. Count till you get to #25, a 7.5A. You can use the fuse remover that's inside the engine fuse box if you don't have one.
