New Vehicle Break In Period?

New Vehicle Break In Period?
I seem to recall something about vehicle break-in in the past but I couldn't seem to find anything in the owner's manual.
Is there any correct procedure? I assume the best policy is to not hot-rod the car until its first oil change. Is there anything more to it?
My wife mentioned something about varying the speed but I can't seem to find anything in the manual about this.

I say just drive your new car normally for a little while. In time you will be ready to test more of the limits of your car and that's when you should do it. This will probably start to happen when you become more familiar and comfortable with your new purchase.
Most importantly keep your vehicle maintained, especially oil changes, lube, and fluids topped off and/or changed as the manufacturer recommends. Then over time as wear and tear or issues begin to appear, take care of them. Do not let them continue for long periods of time because they will become bigger and more expensive problems.
If you do these things you will get a very long life out of your vehicle.

stay on b roads if you can, work the gears if you have a manual will be easier, try not to stay a one constant speed.
don't lug the engine
1st 100 miles 4 or 5 heat cycles, drive it 3 or 4 times..... at night the best when the temp are lower let cool down totally and take another short run.
Not sure this stuff makes a different but that's what I might might be doing.
use engine braking to slow down

Sacramento-LA Break-In
So what can you guys say about my first long drive with my Fit?
Drove from Sacramento-LA in around 6hrs, cruise-control maybe half the time at 70-80 (blue-green lights on my speedometer most of the time)..
So after having the car for 3-days I already have over 400miles on it... After reading here I'm kind of worried I abused the car too much, too fast
Being here in LA, I only drive 3.5miles to work... That long drive is the only thing that's bothering me now...

On page 317 of the user's manual it states:
During the first 600 miles (1,000 km) of operation, avoid sudden acceleration or full throttle operation so as to not damage the engine or powertrain.
Avoid hard braking for the first 200 miles (300 km). You should also follow this when brake pads are replaced.
