chrome on back bubbling up already.
Sooooo I love my fit still
But.... Today... I walked around my car and noticed bubbling on the chrome strip.
I immediately took it to my dealer and he will replace it as warranty. A little disappointing event Hough. He said a week for the parts but I have a feeling it's going to take a bit more time!
It was rridiculously hot yesterday and I wonder if it has to do with that.

If it continues in epidemic form, I can smell class action reprisals around the corner.

I have no plans of buying another Fit. My '09 was totaled two year and 30K miles in. It wasn't perfect, but I really have missed the car. I have taken the opportunity to sit in an EX-L the other day at a local dealer, though the car had not been PDI'd. I have no specific reason I can point to after just sitting in this car, but the truth is if I were to buy another Fit, it would have been one of the left over Japanese made 2013 GE's dealers were selling off at a discount vs. the newer Mexican built model. Just on my limited observations, I just wasn't convinced the quality compared to the Japanese built GE's. I mean no offense to folks buying the new model. Hope it work out well for you all.
Even if I were to buy one at one at some point, it would have to be the high revving manual, since I cannot be convinced to buy any current day CVT, not even for better gas mileage.
Hope the small issues popping up are not a prelude of things to come from a build and component quality standpoint.

Wow, that's unfortunate and a first timer for me! Lately its been crazy hot and humid here in Texas (I'm a couple hours north of you). I'm hoping that your hatch garnish was just a simple case of not being fully cured.

2009 & 2010 Fit's were recalled for a failure of the spring assemblies (lost motion springs) on the engines variable valve timing and lift control system. The defective springs could bend or break (crack). This could cause the engine to stall.
Another recall for 2007-2008 Fit's for the power window switches getting wet and Honda recommended parking the car outside because it could catch on fire.
2013 Honda Fit's with manual transmission are being recalled for an issue with the passenger side driveshaft. The driveshaft could break during driving as the result of improper heat treatment during manufacturing.
Being manufactured in Japan does not equate to a problem free or issue free vehicle.

This is exactly why when my 07 Acura TL was totaled I didnt wait on '15. My dealer even warned against it. Japanese built hondas feel as solid as a vault compared to USDM Hondas. Example... 08-12 Accord was so loose compared to the TSX which are built in Japan. A lot of GM cars are built in Mexico. There quality ratings dropped. I Hope hondas choice to produce the new fit cheaper in Mexico pays off but lower build quality looks like is already showing it's ugly face. I hope this isnt the case. But you never buy the 1st model year of a new model to get all the bugs out.

The early production CRZs had a similar delimitation of the inside door panels. A number of people on the message boards reported the problem, but the Dealers did a great job of replacing them and there were no further issues.

The important thing is we don't want to jump to conclusions here. Keep in mind the Japanese assembled Fit models had there share of issues too. Here are a few examples:

When I got home I noticed some color on a black rear plastic window trim piece I couldn't clean off. Showed the dealer yesterday but the detail department was closed. They went ahead and ordered a replacement part and will try to clean it next week but replace it if they can't.

That's just a VSA software update. If I remember right the issue is that the VSA is sometimes late to react in certain situations. SO, its not really a part or hardware problem in this case.

The man that inspected it at my dealer said he's seen it happen before on other new Hondas. I just think that it did not cure correctly and the humidity/heat got to it.
About the quality with the rest of the car, I've honestly inspected it inside out and I don't really see any other issues at all.

What is appreciated is a GK owner who posts every little thing that is noticed from day one ownership, good or bad. Keeps the rest of us abreast on the overall quality of a newly released model. This continuing effort should be commended and I for one, must hand the OP kudos!!!!
Keep 'em comin!!!!
BTW, now that miles traveled is up, how has the MPG figures held up with your A/C on under that Texas sun???
#16
Thanks I get about 30.5mpg (according to the odometer thingy) but I keep eco mode off. My fiancee drove it with eco mode on for a day and got it close to 33mpg but I don't like it on so it dropped right back to 30.5 lol.

A 25% increase??? I can certainly live with those results. Keep the info flowing!!!!

It's called The Corpus Humidity Syndrome.
I wonder if this will happen to Phoenix cars? We don't get the humidity y'all get, but boy do we get the heat. arghh

That sucks, glad you got it sorted out though.
I lived in San Antonio for a couple of months, and god damn the sun and humidity messed up my dad's Grand Marquis so bad. The dash cracked, the embroidered logos on the leather seats fell off, the "chrome" strip started peeling, radio stopped working.
And a solar flashlight I left on the back window ledge morphed into a doughnut of rubbery plastic.
It sure did a number on that car.
