Numbers seem much better than GD/GE auto figures. Still interested in further data, the lady and I are seriously considering a GK for her DD.

My previous car was a 2006 chevy cobalt, the meter was spot on each time I refueled just like I do now. So I know it is possible to get it right. The fit gets better mileage but is also .8 liters smaller. The cobalt got 28-30 mpg daily. The cobalt is 10% heavier (200 pounds) so that is really the difference of having one other person in the car. I dont think I can say I have noticed the difference in mpg with someone else in the car so in general, the fit works a lot harder yet gets 20% better mileage. I am really pleased with this, doesnt hurt that the Fit is 2000% more fun to drive also. :-D

Just filled up my tank at 38.3 mpg. Econ Mode ON, AC off about 1/3 the time. Mostly highways, driving slow. Tried to keep the Eco Assist Ambient Meter in the green zone most of the time so I was driving 50 to 60mph on the highway. Tried to take hills at constant load because it is very hard to climb hills and keep the Ambient Meter green.

I just got back from running errands. I did my second fuel up (third if you count the dealer tank). Trip computer said 34.5 mpg, but in reality it is 32 mpg when you do the real math. I can live with that! I've done a lot of short distance, in city driving with the AC on.
I'm really looking forward to getting a 300 mile tank! I'm getting around 275, so far. Technically, if I really wanted to push it to fumes, I probably could go as high as 290 and feel okay. I just don't want to do it, for fear of either running out of gas (thank goodness for Honda Roadside Assistance, right?) or damaging the car somehow.

That 300 mile tank will be surpased on the next long weekend when your GK goes for that "out-of-town" jaunt!!!

In my GD, after I started waiting to fill-up until the low fuel light came on, I saw a bump of 2-4 MPG on average.

better mpg than expected
I just filled my tank for the first time. According to the computer I was almost out of gas, and could only travel 18 more miles. I was surprised when it took less than 8 gallons. I topped it off twice, to make sure and got it to 8 gallons.
I put on 326 miles, roughly half highway, half city, Air Conditioning on 100% of the time. The computer calculated 35 mpg - actual 40.75. I did drive the car with mileage in mind - no drag racing - not much differently than I normally would.
2015 EX Milano Red. Love my car!

EX-6MT: Last fill-up 45.43MPG actual. Last two fill-ups combined 45.08MPG actual. CPU reading about 47 for both.
Mainly rural driving under 60mph, a little stop and go, 30-40% A/C.
Averaging about 37MPG for 2500mi. Would be higher if I wasn't idling a ton and playing with things the first couple tanks.

Averaging about 37MPG for 2500mi. Would be higher if I wasn't idling a ton and playing with things the first couple tanks.

Thanks! Not really hypermiling, just basic good driving technique. Stay in as a high of a gear as possible (within reason... "listening" to the ambient meters helps here), coasting in gear when sensible and I guess the big one, trying to anticipate traffic as much as I can (not tailgating, avoiding unnecessary braking and subsequent re-acceleration when possible). I also wasn't on the interstate for most of those tanks so I was averaging maybe 45-55mph which may have helped. What's funny is I tend to drive in a "spirited" manner (jackrabbit-ish starts, etc) but that didn't seem to cut down the average too much.

I've been doing grandma starts but it annoys my wife and the people behind me. Maybe I'll try more rabbit starts. Thanks for the info.

I see so many people post, that they are driving like a granny, but getting poor fuel economy. And I would have to agree, that granny driving, on and off the throttle and brake at very slow speeds, will result in very poor fuel economy.

That is right. It is not the slow start that helps fuel economy. In fact, too slow can actually hurt fuel economy. But it is what you do with that momentum you have put into the car. If you speed up to 50MPH only to hit your brake and slow back down within a mile, then you have wasted that energy input and you will get poor economy.

dont know what would be considered granny driving, but this last tank which was 80% city and 20% highway i managed a combined 38.1 mpg...mostly i recall keeping my starts from traffic lights at around 2,000-2500rpm and then letting the rpm's gradually settle down if that helps anyone
