7 more fill ups, and another vegas road trip on the books. #s improved from 37.6 mpg to 38.1 mpg
*** MAJOR DRIVING HABIT CHANGE - After Work Commute = Avoiding Major Traffic / The I-15 FWY / Driving Much Slower ***
nov 06 - 38.64 mpg (no pedal commander)
nov 11 - 36.99 mpg (no pedal commander, some driving around town in heavy traf due to accidents and misc errands/out of norm driving)
nov 19 - 39.01 mpg (no pedal commander)
nov 23 - 40.01 mpg (Pedal Commander City -4 , Pre Vegas Fill Up)
nov 24 - 37.23 mpg (Pedal Commander City -4 , Arrived In Las Vegas. COLD drive to vegas, perhaps a factor in the poor mpg? Temps in the 60s and 70s.)
nov 26 - 35.77 mpg (Pedal Commander City -2 , Top Off Prior To Leaving Vegas. Always bad mpg around town, and with valet drivers, and it was just a 1 gal top off)
nov 26 - 37.32 mpg (Pedal Commander City -4 , COLD drive home, mostly 40s and 50s... at one point 31F. Google Maps said the drive would take 4 hrs 45 mins, we ended up being almost 30 mins early, due to my right foot and the car going 75-80 mph)
Important Changes To Car:
-Alignment = 11/06/2018 - Toe In 1/8 (FR)
-Oil Change
-Discovered that the Pedal Commander in City -4 = possible to get decent MPG out of, as long as the driver is ultra careful ... and makes the car a bit more "fun" again.
Thoughts On Vortex Generator = So Far ... Not A Damn Difference (YMMV)

Why believe a gas pump instead of a system that can meter out gas down to a pico-liter? Serious question here.
I aired my tires up to spec after they slowly leaked down to 18lbs, which the TPS does NOT detect. It only detects one tire being out of rotation speed with the other 3. Anyway, we did a 317 mile trip to Kernville and back and averaged exactly 42.0 mpg. Impressive given all the climbing and my lead foot on a few occasions where I passed slow traffic, and a fast drive on hwy-14 there and I-15 home from Barstow.
Averaging between 42 & 44 around town, with the occasional dip to 40 mpg. I do have my car garaged though, so no COLD starts.

That's pretty good accurate records you have been keeping. I used to do the same with another car, but it become a PITA, so not the Fit anymore.

Now I use Fuelly online and Automotive Wolf, which is a program for keeping track of everything about your car, especially maintenance. Unfortunately, if you want to install this on a new computer, you have to contact the program's developer and get a new key number from him. When he stops doing that, the program will be worthless. Very strange system.

I got between 46-48 mpg on a 1300 mile day trip from Friendswood TX to McDonald Observatory, Ft Davis, TX., slightly over 24 hours. No fancy gas, just the cheapest, $1.89/gallon at Buc ee's. Yup, we got cheap gas in TX. Went >500 miles on a tank of gas!

500 Miles Per Tank
Anyone? I have done it twice. A bit of disclosure. After the gas gauge shows no bars, I was able to drive another 6 scary miles before filling. Top the tank to 11.3 gallons of gas.

I've driven probably 30 miles with no bars. It was Sunday morning, and no stations were open, so I just parked at one and waited. The gauge is pretty pessimistic - safe, rather than sorry.
#1333
Amazing. Hard to believe. To understand the gauge, the next time the amble low gas light comes on, I'm going to fill the tank to determine what amount is left. Amount left = 11.3 gallons minus the amount filled. Knowing the amount of gas left when the amber light comes on I can better estimate miles to empty than relying the Fit estimate.

My light came on. I drove maybe a mile and filled up. The car took 8.1 gallons. So I estimate the low fuel light comes on when there is about 2.5 gallons left. "Your low level light may vary."

Owners manual says tank (2015 model Fit) holds 10.6 gallons and that low fuel light "comes on when the fuel reserve is running low (approximately 1.59 U.S. gal).

FYI. when the amber light showed up, I filled 10.375 gallons. The most I have ever filled was 11.318. So, 11.318-10.375=0.943 gallons left in tank. If you are able to get 50 miles thereafter, that's pretty good,

I didn't have much choice. It was Sunday morning, and no gas stations in NJ were open. I finally parked at one and waited. I haven't been able to find a record of that fill-up to see how much I got.
#1340
My strategy is to wait till my tank gets really low and then put a gallon gas can (plastic thing from Canada from HD) behind the passenger seat and go for a long drive on a quiet, level hwy. This should provide both total mileage, and when I refill, total gas tank capacity.
I'm thinking of having my SO follow me in her car. I bet I get 15mpg better fuel economy than her 2000 Mazda 626.
