This is from North West Honda in Maryland. I got a LX CVT in Milano Red, no accessories. Dealer asked for $17812.00, destination charges included. With taxes and tags and other bs fees the total was $19371.66. That's what I paid. No trade-ins, and no financing.

No idea if this is a bad price. Comments?

Hello,

I had a question regarding a deposit that I put down. When the car arrives, can I still negotiate the price or am I screwed at that point? Also I noticed someone on here got a discount for being a college graduate which I myself am, but the salesman never mentioned anything about that? Also let's say they don't nudge on the MSRP, do you think I can nag them for some free dealer accessories or even some window tints?

I just called them and told them, and they said that was fine. I had already put down my deposit and negotiated my price by that point. You have to make a copy of your diploma, proof of residence, and proof of a paycheck. They should go into all of that with you.

"I just called them and told them, and they said that was fine."

Hello,

Sorry but what exactly are you referring to when you said the above quoted. According to my dealer my deposit is 100% refundable, in the case that I don't like the car (which won't happen) or it could be possible that I get a considerably better deal at another dealer like free tints, accessories or even free oil changes.

I called and told them I was a recent college graduate. They were able to lower my price without any argument.

Just curious - when listing what you paid, are users here just listing the price of the vehicle, or the total price (tax/title/license/fees, etc)?

I'm assuming it's just the price of the vehicle.

I just had a dealership here in Austin quote me the following as my 'out the door' total price:

EX CVT: $20, 504.12
EX-L CVT: $22,170.15

Sounds like my quote wasn't half bad then.

Yeah looks like it. I'm trying to get them to lower the price or at least throw some free dealer accessories for me. What do you think? Also do you think I'm over paying for it? I do live in cook country which is one of the most expensive counties in the nation.

Well, the difference between your quote and mine is $600.88.

I found this calculator on CarMax's website (not sure how accurate it is).
Tax Title Tags and Fees Calculator at carmax.com

Running the numbers through there and comparing Illinois and Texas, it seems pretty spot on. The difference in the estimates was between $700-800 higher for Illinois.

So it seems like most of that $600 difference in price is probably taxes, if not all of it. Which means you may not be able to do a whole lot to lower it overall.

Your link is only a guess, so this is my last purchase for Florida...

Taken from my 2013 Honda Civic w/Nav system

Fee’s, and taxes:

Taxes are 7% in this part of Florida, but with a recent trade in, will determine what is a trade in, that will reduce the taxes on this civic.

2012 Purchase.

1. Taxes $ 720.00

2. Florida Tire Fee 5.00

3. Battery Fee 1.50

4. Pre-delivery Fee 699.00 ( $ 799.00 for 2014. One can probably negotiate some accessories to off set this profit amount)

5. Lic Plate 150.00

6. MVWEA 2.00

7. Priv Tag Fee’s (profit) 55.00

8. Doc stamp 44.00

This year for the new Fit, the amount may have increased some. Unknown by how much.

Black EX w CVT in Cincinnati

I bought mine today; an EX model with CVT.
Dealer gave me $175 off MSRP of $19,025 - see sticker picture - or $18,850, "because I waited patiently".

I asked for door bumper guards as I have to squeeze out of this in a tiny garage with concrete walls. That was $150, so it was an even $19,000.

I went w extended warranty which was quoted at $1,800 for 8-year, 100,000 (my last car had 44,000 at 7 years old), but when I said my pre-approved bank loan limited it to $1,500 for extended warranties, they said, "OK, let's make it that then." Goes to how much fluff they have in those warranties.

So, that put me at $20,500. Add a documentary fee of $250 and a filing fee for $33.50 means I wrote a check for $20,783.50 (courtesy a blank car loan check from PNC.)

Hope this helps other shoppers. As you can tell, I don't drive a hard bargain.

What dealer did you buy from? I bought my 09 from Performance in Fairfield, but live in NKY. Jeff Wyler was supposed to call me when they got one in, I guess they still don't have any.

What kind of add on's (that jack up the price?)
