Question Left front fender is loose, anyone else have this problem?

Hello all

I recently purchased a used 2018 EX with only 4000 miles from a Honda dealer. The 3/36 warranty ran out the day I signed the the paperwork. The previous owner lived in the same suburban town as the dealership, and seemingly only drove it on weekends. The CARFAX shows no negative reports, and I visually confirmed that all panels and paintwork are factory original. This is my second FIT (bought an '08 Sport new and still have it with 160K miles - they are an absolute modern classic).

Now having lived with the car for a month, I have come discovered a curious defect that I am wondering if anyone else has come across this issue. The left front fender - on the part that runs up the A pillar - is loose. The narrow rectangular section is clearly not attached the way it should be. The section below the small side window is also notably looser than the comparative part on the right side of the car. There is no evidence that the fender has been replaced - the bolts under the hood show no indication of ever having met a wrench.

My guess is the car left the factory with a couple clips missing or improperly attached. I've attached a small video clip to show the looseness.

Anyone have this issue? any thoughts?

is it possible to snake a scope up there ( from under the hood up by the driver's side hinge ) to see what's going on ? either a clip or nut and bolt must
be involved .

i just took a look , it's pretty tight up there , there's a little pad , looks it can be some kind of adhesive strip . the last nut you can reach from just past the hinge is probably the uppermost
fender mount . the good news , is you probably don't have to remove interior panels to get at anything . the bad news , well not as bad , you'll have to remove the fender . well , maybe as bad

My fender does no stick out as far as yours but is springy just like yours. I believe no screws or push tabs under there but made that way. slight bend out in fender makes it springy like that. Typical Honda cheap out on design.

Check out the parts diagram. It looks like there's an inexpensive clip that goes a little ways up the slide over the window. I have a 2015 and mine is flush and solid.

I'm guessing much better than most anything else in it's category.

Did you expect a Lexus when you bought one of the cheapest car that was available? Honda did a great job in putting out an economy car with lots of cargo space. My biggest regret is Honda wants us to pay more for the same reason why I bought my Fit.

Lol!
I find myself touching this spot on every single 3rd gen, that I come across. It does seem that mine simply left the plant with a clip poorly attached, or missing
