Towing capacity on Fit GP5

Towing capacity on Fit GP5
Hi there, 1st post here from New Zealand.
I am looking to buy a Honda fit GP5 (Japan import) which are readily available in NZ.
I like everything about the car, how it drives, boot space, folding seats, hybrid system, aesthetics could be a little bit better but still better than a Prius.
My real question is, can the car tow anything? I tried searching for this information everywhere but I can't find anything and I can't interpret the japenese car manual. I am not looking to tow big weights, but ideally up to 500-700kg (1100lb) as I like to do the occasional picking timber from the yard, trip to the tip, picking up some sort of furniture, etc.
Can anyone let me know?
Much appreciated
If there is already a thread I would appreciate if you can let me know where it is.

I was interested in the answer as well, but I could not find anything that is specifically related to the Honda Fit (USA) model. But, I did came across this. It seems Honda does not recommended the HR-V for towing, I suspect Honda would not recommend towing with the Fit, which has a smaller engine. I confirmed that in the manual that towing is not recommended, pg 307 in 2017 Honda Fit manual (USA)...Towing a Trailer Your vehicle is not designed to tow a trailer. Attempting to do so can void your warranties.
2020 Honda HR-V Towing Capacity
Although the Honda HR-V is not recommended for towing, it’s still an excellent choice for those living active lifestyles. An available all-wheel drive system and 1.8-liter 16-Valve SOHC i-VTEC engine provides the perfect combination of capability and efficiency. Nimble handling and a compact platform allow the HR-V to squeeze into small spaces where other crossovers cannot. With the rear seats folded down, the Honda HR-V has a maximum cargo capacity of 58.8 cubic feet to accommodate all of your gear.Last edited by wasserball; 02-08-2021 at 11:11 PM.

Hi Sam,
Do those cars have a CVT? The Honda fit JDM has a DCT, I see that in NZ the Honda Vezel is rated for towing and that has a 1.5 hybrid DCT engine/gearbox albeit a bit more powerful. But I would say the power is not really an issue as my mazda axela is of similar power and is rated for towing quite a bit.
I've looked the japanese car manual and it has half a page in which it refers to using the hooks for towing but no ratings nor weights!

I towed my CBR600rr with my GE (now I have a GK) which was a total of about 500lbs with the trailer. I say that would be the max since it is also dependent on the trailer hitch capacity. Also make sure you upgrade the brake pads <- you will definitely need it.

You would probably be safe with up to 500 lbs towing if the car itself isn't loaded up, but if you are still under warranty you would never want to go into a Honda dealership for anything with a tow attachment visible on the car where a mechanic might take note of it and use it against you if you later have some kind of engine or transmission problem. Just my opinion.
