Quick and Easy Stereo Upgrade?

I have been trying to do some research on this to see what the easiest way to upgrade the stereo is. I am unsure still. I thought you guys could give me some advice.

So, I am not unhappy with the radio at all. I am not an audio geek and while I love music, the quality of the sound has never been terribly important to me. I do love my Fit though and want to get the most out of it and the radio.

Right now, I think the radio is satisfactory but I would love more bass as that is where it is lacking. A little crisper sound would be great too.

I am thinking an amp and upgraded speakers are the quickest easiest upgrade, is this accurate? Speakers by themselves will not give me much of an upgrade correct?

Thanks!

It would be helpful to know which radio you have installed.

Try this on your audio settings: Keep balance setting at center, move the fader up about 2-3 clicks, keep treble at the middle setting or -1, then keep bass at middle setting or +1.

I fiddled with my friend's base '15 LX and these settings yielded the best results.

I will try this. I do usually keep my treble setting 2 clicks higher than my bass as a rule, but the Fit has good highs but weak lows so this may have to be adjusted. Thanks.

i wonder if it's possible to add a powered sub to the existing sound system
i've always looked into powered sub but never tried it..
i was looking for a woofer that doesn't compromise on space and can be hidden under the seat.
i think that would punch up the bass a little.

Adding a proper powered sub woofer is your best bet. It is less invasive, adds the punch you expect. Good cross over settings. Easy to hook up.
When you add sub woofer don't settle for the compact ones or tubes. You will be disappointed. Atleast get something like this

I wanted to update this thread. I did go ahead and install the above linked Kendall self powered subwoofer and I am extremely happy with it. It did exactly what I needed it to do and rounded out the sound with some healthy, undistorted bass. Also allows me to keep the treble higher which I enjoy.

There is nothing mind blowing about it but I am now able to listen to undistorted music at a higher volume and feel some bass. I am sure this little box will not fit everyone's needs but if you are not an audiophile and want an inexpensive system upgrade, I think this will fit the bill.
