Variable Intermittent Wiper Upgrade?
#21
I am eager to learn how to remove the lining material to do the same. A manual with exploded views would be a great help.

It's a shame that Honda no longer publishes service manuals for the Fit. Not it's all guesswork.

The intermittent wiper stalk has only 1 extra unused pin. I managed to find the wiper connector, and it's not easy to get at. The connector block has 3 unused pins.
Unless I burned out the variable controller, which is a possibility when I tried other pins elsewhere, I could not get it to work with any of the 3 unused pins.
So if someone nearby has a variable wiper stalk, I'll give this a try on your car using only the proper wiper connector.

Action. is it the same as the GE? If so this is the thread eh - https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...-non-navi.html

So I tested my variable wiper stalk, in my Dad's 15 CRV Ex, and the variable feature is dead. I fried it along the way. Time for another stalk. On the plus side, I do like that it's a little longer. Feels better to operate during driving.

Sorry for the delayed reply to this thread. To review, the "Intermittent dwell time controller" signal wire for the variable stalk isn't present in the Fit, but could be added. I've referenced the Honda HR-V as it's very similar to the Fit, and seems to have the same MICU pin outs. I seem to have located the correct pins, though I have since sold my Fit and never completed the project in order to validate.
The correct pin on the wiper stalk should be pin 10, and the correct pin on the MICU should be pin B18. I've embedded the HR-V diagram here. You would need to add the missing signal wire to the MICU B connector and the wiper stalk connector to make it work with the variable intermittent wiper stalk. The stalk is the same as the one used in the higher end trims of the CR-V and the HR-V.

i use Prima Hydro and has the same water rolling effect. can use it on glass, seals, plastic, paint. no need to worry about over spray and no clouding. i have a bottle of rain-x from like over 15yrs ago.. still cant finish it. lol

I've found that if I am going fast enough, Rain-X does the job of wipers. Of course, if you're driving in FL, wipers are required when it's raining - headlights, too.

Do you have any pics of which pin you're supposed to wire to so I won't fry my stalk, too?

bumping this a bit as I am looking to try this on my 2016 EX fit. Does anyone have verification that the pin is in place on auto models and its just a stalk + wire add ?
35256-TVO-A11 seems to go for $45 + shipping everywhere
and what is the difference in that vs 35256-TVA-A11 I keep seeing everywhere ?

There doesn't seem to be much difference, but one might be an update of the other. The TVO could be a revised part.

I read at least one of those accounts.
Was it burning out just plugging the stalk in or after you connected the wire to the back of the fuse box ? I havent seen any pics of the area yet and I havent taken the cver off yet to confirm there is a pin there already or even a wire connected to it

Smoke came out of the stalk unit around the variable rate controller after I tried to tap the wire into the controller unit. So unless someone has an HR-V / CR-V and takes apart the unit downstream of the connections to verify that they are the same or different from the GK5, then adding a wire doesn't seem to work (for me).
