Love 2015 Fit, worried about hid retrofit

Hi guys,

I think the Fit is a truly awesome car first off. I come from most recently driving a Golf TDI that I retrofitted HID's to and was very glad I did - could see so much better than the halogens. I tried (at first) a bulb replacement and then realizing I was blinding folks, did a full retrofit with projectors. Worked great, took the front bumper off, all that. Moved to the city a while back and had to sell the car (sigh), but back in a position to where I can have my own car again.

So the Fit is freaking awesome. We all know that. But would anyone who did or is comtemplating the retrofit of proper projector headlights, is it a real pain on the Fit? I've read the two threads I found (so far) on the subject and baking the headlight casings etc.

Basically I'm asking is there still no way to buy projector housings and plug and play new hid's? I'm not asking for it to be completely painless but again I'm a little wary of baking headlight housings etc. I'm maybe not that good.

Anyway love the boards and thanks for all the information and talk. Very cool stuff. Just worried I'm gonna pull my hair out over the headlights lol. ohwell

They're easy to bake. Mine didn't fit my oven. Use a heat gun instead. You can probably take off casings on both assemblies in a little less than 20 minutes with the heat gun.

Any aftermarket projector headlamp assemblies are not going to have as good of cutoff as a retrofit from, sa y The Retrofit Source. Beam patterns are often times scattered all over the place. Sure, they look cool, until you turn the lights on and then it looks like butt.

+1

Strap it down something solid that won't fall over. In my case, I used our elliptical machine with a chair placed in front. Used some wire ties tied to the mounts, starting from the top start using the heat gun to soften the sealant and push the lens out and then working down to the rest of the headlight.

Oh and btw. Make sure no Mosquitos are around when u bake the lights back on. mosquito season is no good for retro times. Those buggers are a pain to get out once they're in
