I work just a few minutes at a time. I seem to have three or four yellow and the same number of green wires. I'll spend some time with it tomorrow.

It is a Thule 917xtr 2 bike that I modified by cutting it in two, making it a one bike rack. I ordered a Thule 918xtr 2 bike add-on backbone and when it arrives, I will mount my leftover tray to it, and the cut off the access add on backbone. It will then bolt to the existing rack. What it will leave me with is a custom 917xtr one bike rack with a bolt-on custom 918xtr one bike add-on bring it back to a two bike rack again. Thule only offers it in a two bike configuration with a two bike add on kit. This Knocks 20 lbs off the back of my car when I only carry one bike by eliminating the extra carrier when I don't need it, which is most of the time.

Thule should offer it this way.

Nice bike! Love the Crit plate!

I haven't raced in a few years, but still ride trails, the skateparks and Rays in the winter.

Nice setup. They should make the second carrier easily removable.

Cool. I've raced the guy with the blue #10 before.

My car looks a bit different now, and the rack mod works great.

I still haven't pulled my flatbed trailer, but I'll have to go into town for a couple of sheets of plywood one of these days. I know it's going to drop my average MPG.

Thanks! I'm original owner, so I don't have modern prices spent on it.

Here's some pics of my rack mod if anyone is interested. I am happy with the results:

Before cutting:

After removing second bike carrier:

Cut backbone:

Finished and mounted. Second carrier is now removable by simply taking out two bolts and sliding off the carrier:

Thumbs up Curt Trailer Hitch for the 2015 Fit by Honda

Installed one last week. Instructions say about 20-30 minutes, it took me a bit to get the rubber isolators off the exhaust system, probably around 45-50 minutes. PRO TIP: use a drop of dish soap on the metal bars that hold the rubber isolators when taking them off, then use a q tip to put some inside the isolator when putting them back on the metal bar.

eTrailer included a really good set of instructions as well as the bolt "reverse fish" wire to install the bolts into the frame. It was really a great set up and it looks nice on the car.

I could do one in about 20 minutes now, knowing what I know.

Great to hear! Its not a difficult install, I too had the same problem with the rubber hanger for the muffler. WD-40 was my best friend for that. More detail can be read here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...ml#post1279240

Mine's the Reese 77198 hitch. The worst part was lying on my back trying to hold it in place with my knees and an elbow while threading a nut that I couldn't see and didn't want to push back up into the frame. Having a helper that wasn't in kindergarten would have made it almost effortless. As it was, he picked up the nut and placed it back in my hand every time I dropped it. Saved me all sorts of time and effort.

I got the Curt 56011 wiring. It went in so fast and easy I didn't believe it, and even after checking that the lights were working I still thought there must have been something I missed.

I feel your pain trying to support the hitch while trying to thread on the nut to the stud to reverse fish it through the frame. You are also lucky that you had plug and play wiring. the 2015 GK you need to use a universal kit with scotch locks (or solder splice) to the existing wire harness. Still, well worth the effort to have the functionality

Everything's ominous at first. The most difficult part will be doing it while sitting in your trunk.

I did the wiring from outside, and it was no easier. I got a little trailer light tester from Amazon. I plug it into the connector on the car, and I can check to see if the wiring is putting out the right signals.

Where did you find the tow weights the Fit can handle without mods?
