Tire size change for 2009 Fit
I've been shopping to buy a set of 4 General Altimax RT43's to go on the Fit's 15" steelies. I'm currently running stock sized 175/65R15 Altimax HP's with around 40K on them. Very flat wear, I keep them at 45 psi cold.
I'm considering going to a 185/60R15 in the new Altimax RT43, which will spin about ~1% more revs/mile, but maybe have better handling and cornering. Not that I'm unhappy, the stock 175/65's Altimax's I have now have been great, basic daily driver, mostly city commute stop n go, with some highway trips. So I don't think I would sacrifice too much mileage on the highway at +1% more revs.
Then to decide between the H-Performance or T-Standard variants available. Both have the same UTQG 600AA treadwear rating. I'm guessing the H's may be a bit more grippy. Will going to a 185/60 have less rolling resistance than the 175/65s I'm on? I'm probably nitpicking, just trying to weigh different scenarios together.
TireBuyer.com seems to have the best overall deal here. After their $30 coupon discount and General's current $50 VISA card mail-in promo good until October 15, I can get a set of 4 ready to put on for $217.46. I get free shipping to my area in FL. I ran the numbers against TireRack ($59 shipping cost kills the deal) and even Amazon can't beat this time.

The 185/60-15 RT43 are $66.31 for the H rated and $67.31 for T rated . We have the H rated 175/65-15 and they've been fine . The 175/65-15 are $68.60 through Wal-Mart , the H is the only tire for the 175/65-15 . They need to be ordered and can be in store in a few days . There's a rebate from GENERAL of $50 , so $12.50 off per tire ( ex. $66.31-$12.50 = $53.81 each ) . Go here for details , Anywhere is Possible | General Tire . The rebate also includes the Atimax Arctic snow tire , that's only available at 185/60-15 . Rebate ends 10/15 .
