Alignment after lowering

I was curious if after going from 15in wheels to 17in and dropping it 1.6 all the way around if I will need an alignment? if so is it recommended to buy a new camber kit?

You have probably gained some negative camber. Toe in is critical and if not corrected you will experience premature tire wear.

thanks mkane that helps. I just need to find a local shop that will do it after i install the springs. It seems like some places just wont do it with it lowered. Im not sure why.

I don't think you need a camber kit for a 1.6 inch drop. Firestone offers a lifetime alignment for cheap, and they will work on lowered cars.

No on the wheels, yes on the lowering springs as they will cause a change in your suspension geometry, and that affects alignment. You will need camber bolts for the front, at least I did for a 1.8" drop. Whoever does the rear will need to use shims.

Don't NEED camber bolts, but would recommend them.

You can't adjust the rear on GE, there's no way to shim, so you might as well just pay for a two wheel alignment.

The most critical measurement is toe, just make sure it's at 0 to avoid premature tire wear. More negative camber is beneficial, thus the camber bolts to achieve this, but not necessary.

thanks guys. I got my Tein S Techs on last night and drove a bit today and they settled down a bit.. I am thinkin I will take your advice Wanderer and have the wheels re-balanced and the alignment looked at.

Do tire shops like Firestone carry camber bolt kits "if" i do need them? Sorry i guess I can call I am just not sure what the difference is between the original and aftermarket bolts. Is it length or something?

You don't need to re-balance your wheels after changing the suspension.

Aftermarket camber bolts have lobes on them. It let's you adjust the camber a bit. Hard to explain, you should Google it.

Yes like drdoom said no need to rebalance your wheels.

I'd just order the camber kit online and bring it in.
