Kuhmo Ecsta 4X 205/50/16 installed today

I upgraded my tires today after putting 8K on the stock Dunnies.

I decided on the Kuhmo 4X after reading several good reviews and also I got a good deal from Discount Tire.

They were $75.00 a tire in 205/50/16 plus a $50.00 rebate so I jumped on the deal.

I just drove in after checking online to see if they were in stock.

I was on my way in less then a hour with new shoes for my Fit.

I took my usual route home through the canyons but took it easy.

I'm aware of the release mold on new tires but I could not help doing a little testing

I noticed right away the confidence inspired by the upgrade. The car felt more planted and tracked much better then the Dunlops.

The ride was very smooth and the super sharp steering response was reduced a little compared to stock.

If anyone is looking at A/S tires these are very good for the price and I think compare to the Conti DWS.

Sorry no pics but I will take some when I get a chance. They have a nice profile and don't bulge on the stock 2012 Sport rims.

I noticed a slight increase in mpg so that was a bonus

I usually get around 28mpg when driving spirited

today I got 34 so I'm happy with my choice.

I'm at stock height now but will be lowered on Swifts next week along with Progress rsb.

I will report back when I get my new tires broken in in a couple hundred miles or so.

What's expected from the new rsb?

I'm very happy with the new tires and can't wait to add the springs and rear sway bar.

I did a lot of research on the rsb and it does compliment the factory bar and improve handling. It's amazing how far tire tech has come.I usually run summer tires year round for max grip

but you can get a good A/S tire nowdays that has some serious grip and will performe just as well in the rain.

oh ya I also noticed my braking has improved with the new rubber. This was all expected and I'm a happy camper.

So you add the new rsb, leaving the stock unit in place?

Yes. The new RSB takes over when the OEM fails. From what I've read the OEM bar cannot be removed on the 2012 Fits.

Yep the factory rsb is intergrated into the beam so you don't really see it.

I searched and found tons of info on the Progress bar right here on the forums.
Some did not notice much of a difference but most saw a obvious improvement in handling.

There was one that stood out and it was a Fit owner that installed the bar between sessions at the track.

The bar helped the car during hard cornering. It was described as allowing the car to sit up and attack the turns as opposed to kind of digging in and going through the turn.

How did you get that great price? They're $100/each on the website.

Look up the tires on Tire Rack ($89). Print and/or link that page and then contact Discount Tire and ask them to match it. You can do it on line to the closest discount tire, or just drive in. The Discount Tire closest to me said they would match the tire rack price. Then you still also get the $50 rebate as well. Make sure you get the Kumho 4X quoted, not the AST or ASX (lower rayed tires).

I'm not sure if it was a 4th of July promotion but when I saw the 4X for $75 a tire with the 50.00 rebate I hit the submit button so fast

I usually order my wheels/tires from Tirerack and have them shipped ready to mount but this time I went with my local shop.

The good thing is they show online if they have the tire in stock and how many they have.

I was really set on going with a summer tire like the DW Conti or Dunlop Star spec but I'm glad I chose the Kuhmo 4X

It will last a lot longer and still do what I need it to do.As I continue to put some miles on them they are really impressive for the price.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to replicate the same deal. Tire Rack and local installer seem to be cheaper than Discount Tire so I think I'll go that route. Thanks and I can't wait to try out these tires!
