+40 Offset??

+40 Offset??
So I'm new to the Fit world and apologize in advance for probably ignorant questions. First off, I've found some wheels that I like but they're +40 rather than the 43 and 45 i see most people with. They're 17" rims and I do plan on lowering the car with basic springs (no more than 1.5" drop) but don't want ANY RUBBING!!. I also would like to know what's the best tire size to get for a "flush" look. Any help is greatly appreciated!

It really depends on the tire size but I rubbed with 17' wheels 40 offset and 205/40/17 tires. I'm currently on 205/45/17 w/ 42 offset but I plan on rolling my fenders a bit. I have a 1.75 drop.

I'd highly recommend a going to a place that does custom wheel fitments (think shops that do oversized rims). They should have a device that tailors itself to your desired combo's dimension and allows you to see whether that wheel and tire combination will rub or not and where.
If memory serves me right, the lowest rim offset for a lowered GE without any fender mods can run with a 205 is +43 mm (anyone feel free to correct me). So, you may be able to run a 205/45R17 with the +40 offset after tucking in your fender liners in front (maybe pinch/roll your inner fender lip too) and shaving down at least 4-5 mm of rear bumper's inner plastic. Don't bank on it though.
Hopefully someone with definite knowledge will chime in or there is a post in the GE section of Fit Shoes that confirms what is needed to run the rim of your choice.

I have 16 x 7's on my Fit w/40mm offset and stock suspension and no rubbing at all. I feel this is not only because of the stock suspension but also because the tires height is the same as stock. Now I plan on lowering my car, but its only going down about 1.3" F and 1.0" R and I don't expect any issues

lots of ppl are rubbing on 17's, and many are not. it does depend what springs/coilovers you are running. the tire profile is not a huge deal, but in the end, it may partially be the cause of rubbing as well. but that all depends on your drop.
you really can't say you want a "flush" look without rubbing lol...the more flush, the more rub haha

be careful because from his pics, his fenders look like they're rolled and pulled. that has a big effect on whether or not his wheels rub.

this is for a GD, but i cant imaainge it being THAT different.
running 17x7.5 +40 offset
205/40/17 tires
dropped on progress springs
woudl of rubbed like crazy in the front if i didnt add camber (about 1.25 degrees front camber) and rolled/pulled front.
rear i trimmed the bumper clip off. did not roll. did not add camber.
rear rubs on large dips in the road with driver or driver+1 passenger
can only have 1 passenger in my car (no on in rear) or else it rubs like crazy.
