40 offset will rub if you lower it later
is that true guys?
Anyway to overcome these?
this stops me buying wheels as most rota wheels come with 40......

Depends on a lot of different variables.
some springs lower more than others .. also, On a 7 inch wide rim, you can either run a 205, or a 215 ..

look at Tire Rack and Discount Tire direct...they have a huge selection of wheels and tires plus they price match any advertised price. I mean how much are you paying fro the complete set up. I bet we could find a higher quality set for the same dough....and if not save a little bit longer and get a better set. Tires are the only contact between your car and the road. You really shouldn't sacrifice tire quality for the rims you want.

Did you take a look at either site to see if you liked anything? I just bought some wheels and I looked all over. When it came down to it...lots of sites (wheelfire, wheelsnext, etc..) have some killer deals on tire/rim combos but it's usually because they're selling them with cheap low quality tires. I ended up going with Discount Tire Direct this time but last time I went with Tire Rack.

They both offer good tires to go along with whatever wheels you want. Like I said before your tires are the only contact you have with the road...not the best place to skimp IMO.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but what ever happened with the wheels? Did you get them? Do they rub? Is your GE lowered?

Im looking at something similar but dont want to deal with rubbing issues. Any input on 205/45/17's +40 on a GE8 (modestly) lowered with Eibach Prokit (1.2" fr & 1.4" rr) ?

I was afraid of that...

Know where I might find wheels that look similar to these (flat black radial spoke style) but available in 16"? Can only seem to find them in 17"

Check out my link under my sig pic for photos, but i dont rub at all and i am not lowered. I am planning to put on tanabe NF210's in the spring and i will update then if i come across issues.

I ended up with the Nakayama Schumacher R8's from wheelfire.com with the Nexen N5000's and the tires are awesome and ride great, for all the haters out there on this specific tire, if you've never ridden with it dont comment on it.
