Lightbulb

IMO we need a diffinative stickied thread about what will and will NOT work on the GE8, including stock suspesion cars, lowered cars and the tire, wheel and offsets that work correctly w/o any problems, thanks guys!

All the info is great and thanks to everyone for their hard work and the time it took to post it, it will help many people out

I'll be at stock height but eventually want a mild drop (~1").

Thanks in advance...

You think 16" tires might fit a trifle loose on 15" rims?

Even with 41 mm offset on 16" rims you'll be very close and probably not suitable for dropping. The overall diameter is nearly a half inch larger than an 09=10 and an inch over 08 stock.

Not trying to be a jerk...especially after posting the question, BUT, if this is true, I wonder why Honda Tuning used 15x7 Gram Lights with 38 mm offset. Surely they have enough experience, and resources, to know better.

The Enkei RPF1 is the lightest, reasonably priced wheel you can buy. The reduction in unsprung weight (> 7lbs/wheel ) would arguably produce performance gains equivalent to, or greater than, rear seat delete + I/H/E.

Yes I expect they will. you need 45 mm offset to have clearance. Its the tire size and offset that counts. A wider tire than stock adds half the section width and of course the diameter decreases the clearance inside the fender well. The wheel offset pushes the tire further out as offset decreases and further in with increases. About all the offset can decrease is down to 45 mm (about 7-8 mm less than stock unless you narrow the tire and decrease diameter).
You will see some others work too but they are just lucky and have enough manufacturing variance to get away with it,
PS you must read the Car&Driver article pg 32 on the effects of tire size and wheels on mpg and acceleration.

I ran factory 185/55-16s on 16x6 et48 Mini Cooper Webspokes, stock suspension, zero issues.

Then I ran 15x7 et38 Drag Dr31s with 205/50-15 Falken Azenis RT615s, stock suspension, and even after a day of autocrossing had no rubbing or anything.

Next was 17x7.5 et32 Falken Hanabis, with 205/40-17 Falken Ziex ZE512 on dropzone lowering springs for the GD3 chassis, probably about a 1.75"-2"ish drop, again no rubbing or any other problems. Fronts poke out from fenders about 3mm. rears still tucked under.

Same wheels with 195/40-17 Yokohama S-drives, and after some *very* aggressive mountain road blitzing my front fender liners were polished right in the center of the wheel well. The Yoks have a wider profile, even thought they are a smaller size. This is common as tire sizing and testing isn't really standardized.

My current setup is still on above mentioned dropzones, 17x8 et38 F, et35 R Axis Apex with 205/40-17 Falkens ZE512 again. Front has about 3mm of poke and rear wheel is perfectly flush with outer edge of fender. Fits better than the yokohamas on the 7.5 et32s.

Except for the Drag wheels all the above listed setups were/have been on for thousands of miles, with 4 people in the car, down crazy mountain roads, driven on rough potholed highways, etc. etc.

Only the yokohamas on the 17x7.5 et32 wheels EVER caused any rubbing, and that was still not even enough for anyone but me to ever notice.

I can post pics if anyone wants to see my setups.

^ the reason they don't rub is because the tires are very stretched as can be seen from the pics. You can see the alloy wheel is sticking way outside of the fender, but the contact surface of the rubber is tucked inside. The tires are stretched because the rims he uses are wider than the width of the tire.

Ahh ic. I just checked my rims and I'm guessing it's stretched a little? 17x7.5 +40 with 205/40/17. The wheel isn't sticking out though...

your offset is not as low as the offset that he is using hence your alloy wheel does not poke out as much as his does. Btw, are you lowered and do you rub? Any pictures of your setup that u can post up?

Not lowered yet, but I did install to see if I would rub on stock height because some FF members said I would, but I didn't. Will be lowering very soon with some prototypes. Just have to work some things out

It does poke out by a bit though

Sorry I don't have pics of the entire car. I also took them off because they need new tires. I'll post some up as soon as I get tires though. Gap on the front though is about 3.5" and 4" rear. This is a guesstimate though

Aj Racing's Fit is running on 17x7.5 +42 on 205/40/17 tires and they're not rubbing. BTW k20, what website did you buy your plugs at???
