I thought a solid rear axle is literally the wheels are on an axle shaft. I imagine there's a slight 'camber' effect when one side gets pushed up.

But, our (GE) rears are torsion beams (some folks call it 'H' beam). When one side gets pushed up, there's no camber effect.

^ this holds true

Went out earlier to get some 5mm KYO-EI slip-on spacers for the rear and I took pictures before having the spacers installed...

front vs rear (17x7 +47 | 195/45R17) also notice the nice tiny little stretch on the tires
VS.

even at a distance, you can actually see and notice the difference

and just to add... being that I have 17x7 +47 offset, 195/45 and is now running 5mm spacer at the rear... I can pretty much say that a wheel with 17x7 +42 offset and 195/45 tires will clear easy. You can then just make your calculations basing on those numbers on what offset would clear a 205, 215, 225 tires. BTW, the GE8 has factory rolled fenders.

I will update with pictures of the rear which is now has a 17x7 +42(courtesy of the 5mm spacer)

Quick question guys: I want to add an 8mm spacer on the rears, my question is, would I need longer studs? I've heard that 5mm is fine on the stock studs and with 10mm, one would need longer studs, how about 8mm?

My cars lowered on T1R-S springs and have aftermarket rims 16x7+40.

^ I was wondering this as well. I don't want to be putting too much stress on the studs. I heard that if you can at least make 3 full turns with the lug nut, it should be ok, but to me that already seems risky.

3 turns is nowhere NEAR safe when you're holding down 80-90 ft lbs of torque. typically 7-ish turns is safe, i run a 5 mil out back and that alone only gives me 5-6 turns. with an 8 you'll be cutting it close, just go to autozone and dig out 8 replacement studs at 12x1.50 a few mm longer, smack the existing ones out (easy as pie) and throw the new studs on. voila!
