My Fit and new Fiesta rubbing shoulders!
So my g/f and I pull into this lot about to have breakfast Sunday morning and I see a new Fiesta parked out there, so I pull next to it and size it up. I would've seriously considered this car if it were out at the same time, but after having many problems with my last "first year" production car (07' R56 Mini) I probably would've stayed away. Now in my one car mag they state that the new Fiesta makes the Fit look like it "handles like a cargo van" when compared to the new Fiesta and its the new benchmark for the B-segment cars in handling. A buddy of mine back home thinks the Fit sport is a better handling car but he didn't "wring out" the new Fiesta in his test drive. I'd like to drive one just to see, but I'd take out a stick and that alone would make me want one because of the fun factor, oh well, here's the pics....
Sorry for the pics, for some reason they're coming out small, first time in the years I've used photobucket this has happened, any idea's?
....and now for something completely different!
How about all this color....and horsepower....and torque....and fuel economy!

Your right King, I too like the ZR1 much better, who wouldn't but then again, Corvettes are my favorite cars! I think Cat was talking more about the Fiesta and Fit comparison. I like how the Fiesta slopes down in the back, the stylin' down the side, the leather/heat option, not to mention that contrasting color of the piping on those leather seats, the Sync system and that dual clutch 6spd auto. That being said though, its in its first year of production, so even if it were available back in February when I got my Fit, I would've stayed away from it anyways. Good luck to Ford and their new, quality laiden Fiesta, competition is good for everyone

I thought the same way when I heard them coming, but seeing the one you've shown and hearing reviews I'm not sorry in the least. The FIT looks like it is - Ford is trying to make theirs look like everything else. Sure the FIT could have a bit more in those creature comforts, and in other markets it does, but it is exactly what it IS, a FIT.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Honda 'up-scale' the USDM in a few, after this new class of cars takes hold - and they will.
Still and all that's one sweet ride................. thanks for including it.

What is the weight on one? The Demio, which the Fiesta is based off of, comes in at 50kg lighter in its Sports package compared to the Fit RS, both in 5MT fashion. Both with 1.5 liters (Demio actually has 2cc more with .4:1 compression less), the Fit has a bit more power (120ps versus 113ps) and torque (106.5 vs 102.25), but being that the Demio is 110lbs lighter off the floor, it just might feel a bit better in most aspects.
Still would much rather have the Fit over the Demio.

Just drop the R18 into it. Still a SOHC, doesn't gain much weight, well I can't be certain as not sure of the weights of both, but definitely lighter than a DOHC setup because less internals and yet the Fit will gain 30 more hp and some more torque as well. Honestly, I would love to see a K20A destroked to a 1.6 or 1.8 liter and fitted to it. Should be able to muster a good 170ps and 18.5kg-m of torque and with the 6MT and aluminum lower arms from the CR-Z to increase strength and lower weight. Maybe the next iteration of the Fit.
You HEAR this Honda?!?! :P

Re: CR-Z lower arms and other swap parts....1-800sexdrive = genius
I can't wait...if the CR-Z follows the Honda cookbook, then swapping parts is going to be like playing with legos (really expensive legos)...

I'd also love it if Honda brings more options from their JDM to compete with the Fiesta's moonroof and leather-trim seats, and SX4's AWD.

Photobucket resized your pics automatically.. you should set it so when you upload them it resizes them by resolution. I have mine set to 1024x768 but I usually resize them to 800x600 before upload.
The Fiesta is a nice looking ride, but that color.. is foul. Nice fit!
