Unhappy My 2012 is a brick

Hi everyone,

I've been coming here since 2010 when I got my first Honda for information but this is my first time posting. My 2012 Honda has been driving fine.. forever. I've never had a problem with it. But last night I went to Chipotle, parked my car, and came back out after 5ish minutes. When I put the key in the ignition... nothing. No clicks, no lights, no electric locks or windows. The brakes also won't depress. SO I'm assuming it's either the main relay or ignition switch? I'm borrowing a power probe tonight to try to get a little more information. Any other thoughts?

Thanks so much!
Summer

Sounds like your battery, check if one of the poles became loose.

Is your car a manual? Maybe you can try to roll-start it in a safe environment.
Do you use keyless remote entry? Did those power locks unlock? If it's totally dead, it sounds like a battery terminal or fuse...nothing too serious.

Like the others said, it sure sounds like a battery connection or the battery itself. I would tend to guess a bad connection since it came up suddenly. Possibly the ground connection corroded or rusted loose.

The brakes are always much harder to push without the vacuum assist, which comes when the engine is running. (There is a little vacuum accumulator tank to give a couple of stops if it stalls). However, with some muscle, they will still work. I think you (and many other people) would find it instructive sometime to go to a safe open area, shut down the engine, and see how the steering and braking feels without power assist so you have some idea what to expect should something unexpected come up.

So it's not the battery. I had it tested and it's fine. I got a probe out and the alternator is fine as well. I have power and probe all the way up to the alternator but no charge AT ALL throughout the entire interior fuse box. So, somewhere between the alternator and the fuse box I'm losing power.

Maybe a bad wiring harness or a loose connection somewhere? Have you checked all of the fuses? Can you get your car running at all? What is the battery voltage while the engine is running?

^^Yeah, I was thinking some sort of main fuse issue (though I don't even know how our cars are set up for fuses).

EDIT: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...ml#post1326857 There's a Charging System wiring diagram. I wasn't able to drop in the link to the specific page in the manual.
