Manual Transmission Drone Noise

Manual Transmission Drone Noise
hey guys,
For those of you with a manual, put it into first speed up to about 12mph and then let it coast to a full stop. Do you hear a drone/downward whine as you coast?
I do, I'm thinking it's normal but for whatever reason I started noticing it.

Whoops, let me clarify.
1. Put car into first gear.
2. Speed up to 12 mph.
3. Put in clutch and let coast with clutch in.
Do any of you with the 2013 hear a drone/tranny whine as you come to a stop?

I have a 2010 and yes it makes that weird noise coasting in 1st gear with clutch pushed in. MT fluid was changed last summer with no change in noise. Transmission is also crunchy when shifting out of first gear in the morning. I have 40k on the car and it still seems ok.

I think he meant, manual transmission drain and refill. 75k miles I'd say you are due. Takes two bottles and is fairly easy execpt ideally, your car would have to be level so use 4 axle stands. Also, be sure to open the fill plug before opening the drain plug.

I have a 2010 with 32k and have the same noise...also coming out of 1st seems to stick..or not smooth coming out of gear and has to be timed perfect in order not to get a crunchy out of gear feeling..any ideas...have changed the fluid to amsoil... Not much different... Lost hope its not a syncro

I don't have the transmission whine. The car does kinda of not want to shift out of 1st sometimes - reckon I need to let off the gas a bit then shift when this happens (take the load off).
Can someone please provide me more details on changing the manual transmission fluid? Where are the fill and drain plugs located? Is a funnel needed? What weight oil? How much does it take? I favor Royal Purple oil for this.

There's a DIY on here, but just quickly, the drain and fill are on the driver's side, they're pretty obvious.
I just use a pump, but you can funnel it from the top.
Buy two quarts of Honda MTF or oil rated for Hondas. Manufacturer usually specifies it's ok for Hondas.

Well done sir, +rep for search/find (if I could ha)
FWIW, I don't remove that whole undertray, just the pop clip thingie closest to the drain fill holes, and I just bend the tray out of the way. It's pretty flexible, and I just clean whatever mess is left with a rag.
I'd rather do that than take all the clips off, because I don't like them.
I also don't bother leveling the car. Once you get the front end up, the rear comes up too from the engine/trans weight. Yeah, there's so much weight in the front it lifts the rear from full compression lol. At that point the car's not even that tilted to make a big deal out of it IMO
The "right" way is to level the car though if you are OCD like that.
Good luck
