3qt. is enough for GE8 but having 4 on hand will allow you to top it off if more is needed.

I just completed mine and 30k > 60k for our transmissions especially if you are using ATF Z-1

Personately, i drained mine with the plug at the bottom of the transmission and filled it with a long funnel at the dipstick tube... Less PITA if you ask me.... Put in 3 quarts, go for a short spin and do it again a second time and you'll be fine if you want new fluid in it! Changing the filter located under the battery could not make matters worse IMHO! That syntec OEM fluid is interesting!! I also think Z-1 is crap since i flushed it 3 times already and the car only has 100k km! ...for now i enjoy Redline Racing Type-F without any problems (I like the firmer shifts!) but i wonder if it would help on economy since the Redline is a high viscosity stuff! Sound's like it's worth a try! Maybe the ''equivalent'' Redline D6 would work also...

So your saying that after draining out 3 quarts and then adding 3 quarts, go for a ride and do the same thing again

Well i did a complete flush with that DW-1 ATF this afternoon as my oil was beginning to smell funny... My impressions are...!!!

-It is definitely better then that ATF Z1 in those sub zero temps! I can't wait to see if it will last longer then POS ATF Z1!!
-For performance applications, Redline Racing Type-F ATF is FAR superior!! With any OEM oil, my transmission feels like it's slipping like a KY sweating mofo at WOT! With the Redline stuff it doesn't feels very different at part throttle but at WOT it feels like the clutches are grabbing and holding tight! Not an ''Axles thrashing madness'' grab but a firm grab!

Next time i'm gonna return to Redline for sure!! This stuff rocks!!

Yes as it will drain the Torque Converter this way! The pan holds a little less then 3 liters and the Torque Converter holds approx. the same amount!

ATF Z1 PDF!! -> http://www.worldpac.com/tagged/Idemitsu-Honda-Genuine-AT-Fluid-08200-900-OES.pdf -> 29.5CST @ 40° - 7CST @ 100°!!

ATF DW1 pdf!! -> http://www.wpac.com/tagged/HONDA_DW-1_ATF_08200-9008_OES_(USA)_and_CA66844_OES_(Canada).pdf -> 25CST @ 40° - 6.8CST @ 100°!!

ATF DW1 is about 5 centistroke lighter when cold but it's about the same weight when hot!! Actually, my car feels better when cold with DW1 Vs. Z1 and the weight difference shouldn't matter at normal operating temperatures... Combined with the fact that it is a Group III Syntec, i think that it will hold up better then Z1 but only time will tell!!

Compared with Redline Racing ATF at 53.7cst @ 40° - 10cst @ 100°, Lightweight Racing ATF @ 23.2cst @ 40° - 4.9cst @ 100° and the Z1 replacement Redline D4 at 34cst @ 40° - 7.5cst @ 100°!

Marko!!!
